The Origin of Herobrine
There is a lot of legend shrouding Herobrine, but who is he really? In every major update, Jeb/Notch claims to have removed Herobrine and many stories have been published truley making this entity "The Yeti of Minecraft." I have pieced together, for you, a full guide about Herobrine using only 100% proven facts. Enjoy!
Herobrine Photos... FAKE!
There is no proof that Herobrine has existed. o Realo Photos have been taken only to be proven wrong. You can tell if a photo of Herobrine is fake if:
- Herobrine is not moving. Herobrine is a hostile mob.
- Herobrine has his arms to his side. There is a popular texture that turns iron doors into Herobrine.
- Traces of mods are present (Duh)
More on Herobrine being proved false: http://www.planetminecraft.com/forums/herobrine-t3415.html (Very Helpful)
The Legends and the Facts
Many people believe Herobrine is Notcho s dead brother, however Notch does not have a dead brother. Here is one of the most popular legends:

Zeranny has noted against this story:
"Notch could not have coded something that comes into your singleplayer world, builds, destroys and watches you and then hack the Minecraft Forum to delete your post and give you a 404, or make an automated forum account that sends you a pm and deletes itself."
Possibly the most crushing blow against Herobrine's existence is in this tweet actually posted by Notch:

Many would now believe that Notch created Herobrine to create a certain type of lore and intrigue to Minecraft and also to blame any glitches that may occur in updates. However, the true creator of the story of Herobrine is kizzycocoa, an avid Minecraft player and admin on Minecraft Forums.

Conclusion
What do you think? I believe that it is now obvious that Herobrine has never been existed or at least never confirmed. Real or not real however, Herobrine has fulfilled his purpose of creating a sense of lore and mystery to Minecraft which will forever hold a place in Minecrafter's hearts.
One more thing, in honor of this blog surpassing 1,000 views a have hidden Herobrine in one of my more popular submissions. First one to find him gets his/her/its name on this blog!

As for Herobrine's real creator, no one knows who or where he is now, but I bet he's happy with how his creation has came along.
