These are the features Mojang wants to include in 1.7 (more on the way)


  • It contains biome changes and new biomes, and might contain changes to oceans.[2][3]
    • Clay Canyon Mountain type biome[4] jokingly referred to as "Disco Mountains".[5]
      • Composed of multiple colored hardened clays.
      • Dead shrubs spawn in this biome.

    • Spruce Trees will generate in Extreme Hills biomes.[6]

  • A lot less "black spots" in the terrain generator.[7]
  • Torch bugs in strongholds and mineshafts have been fixed.[8][9]
  • A community oriented feature [10]
  • Changes to Fishing mechanics.[11][12][13][14]
  • Possibly Cherry Trees added by Patrick Geuder.[15][16]
    • They vary "seasonally" by having leaf blocks change color every fourth day for three minutes.[17]
    • Contain pink saplings.[18]

  • Rewrite of one or more option screens.[19]
    • Rewrote Key Config.[20]
      • Function and sprint keys can be changed




Bug fixes:
  • MC-2915 - Attempting to tp to an invalid coordinate returns "commands.generic.double.invalid"
  • MC-9547 - Incorrect usage string for `/scoreboard teams empty`
  • MC-10257 - when a pig gets struck by lightning it spawns without a sword
  • MC-11280 - Sometimes Water flows out of newly generated Village Farms
  • MC-11518 - RCON and Scoreboard Command Output Formatting
  • MC-12450 - Missing usage string commands.scoreboard.players.list.usage
  • MC-12452 - Scoreboard team join command fails on invalid team name
  • MC-12454 - Scoreboard option seeFriendlyInvisibles not listed in usage
  • MC-12541 - the letters for the 'off' setting on smooth lighting aren't capitalized
  • MC-17090 - Invalid teamcolors throw an NPE in the console rather than an error message "invalid color"
  • MC-26608 - /spreadplayers confirmation text is wrong



LAUNCHER UPDATES


  • Multiple Minecraft copies per Mojang account.[21]
  • "Make it prettier".[22]
  • Add the possibility to play Alpha, Infdev, Indev and Classic.[23]

i thought they were going to attempt to allow username changes

They are but not in 1.7 unless they can somehow speed up the process but they are trying to figure out user name changes, and then how to change whitelist and blacklist, to the new username if you were whitelisted or blacklisted.
