This is a story I have been working on, abandoning, and remaking for years, changing a lot when I actually work on it, but throwing it away when I abandoned it. So I'm going to share my story with you guys, and though Unfinished, I still hope you guys will like it, and continue to as I work on it and more.
The story is about a plane crashing (which is kind of a common topic. Oh well.) on the way to Japan, and landing on an island in the middle of the ocean, and shows the story of survivors trying to get it through each day. I hope the topic being sort of overused doesn't change your opinion on it, and feedback will be MUCH appreciated. This does have a bit of graphic scenery, use of tobacco, and talk that you would only joke about with your friends on a Friday night, so be warned if you don't wanna have part of that. Plus - never use drugs and harmful substances, kiddos. Anyways, enough talking. Enjoy.
Prologue
Screams of agony and panic seemed to fill the air faster then smoke the color of death
itself did. Those who died were either torn apart - literally speaking, or being dragged by survivors
bickering with one another whether or not to send people 6-feet under who looked dead but still is
gurgling their blood-flavored mouthwash.
Then the hiss of an angered cat filled the air, blocking out the moans of pain flying about.
The Engine gave it’s last wheeze, oozing out grey smoke and metallic oil with bits of rainbow
gleaming off its shiny surface, trying to give a message to the humans that hope will be there
hidden though the mess. The front of the airplane imploded, sending chunks of metal flying
about. People winced and looked up, and saw a bit of the metal bird-shaped volcano has burst
its top. A man took a glance, but ignored the rest, focusing on the corpse of his son he’s
dragging. He glances up one more time, only to see a blur of flame and metal block his point of
view. People nearby burst into shock and sat down as they reviewed the thought of a metal door
that missed them by ‘that’ much, ignoring the maroon sweat gliding off their brows.
Chapter 1 - The Uber Driver
“Dude, do it bro!” Hank wheezed as he coughed up his lung into his ashtray. “You two have been together for - what now,” Hank sniffled. “Fifty years?”
Jude smirked that smirk you only make when you hear a joke so bad it makes it funny, even though he really didn’t want to.
“I’m not that old, Hank,” He rejected Hank’s puff offer. “It was only 2 years, man.”
“You said it yourself! You told me you found the ‘perfect ring’!”
“I just said that to get you off my back about the ring.” Jude shuddered and leaned back. “Just leave me alone.” There was a silence for a minute, when a honk sounded from outside causes Jude to check the window.
“What, you got somewhere to be?” Hank comments as he reruns things in his mind to find a reason.
“Well, yeah. An Uber is coming to get me for my business meeting.”
“Oh so now you’re now all GTA-style scheming?”
“No, I just have a new business opportunity in Japan. Just have to get to the ‘port.”
“Ooh, bring me back some sushi and a sexy model, will you? And how come I didn’t know about this?”
“Because I forgot to tell you.”
“Oh yeah, sure”
“I’ve had a lot of stuff on my mind, ok?”
“Like p*rn?”
Jude chuckled at the remark and looked outside, and almost instantaneously he sees a silhouettes hand wave at him, as if the figure knew where he lives.
“Hey Hank, I got to go. You should head out too, it’s getting late.” Jude said as he put his spaghetti arms between the straps of his bag.
“It’s only 4:00.”
“Yeah, well you’ll miss your live p*rn stream otherwise.”
Hank gave Jude a look that spoke “Screw you” but "Good one" at the same time and headed out the door, towards his car. Jude followed, dragging his luggage along, click-clacking across the pavement of the walkway. He stepped in the Über, and as he put in his belongings and got comfortable, a face that once represented love stared back smiling, and Jude realizes why the silhouette -now sitting in front of him- recognized him when he pushed back his curtain. The whole ride seemed to take forever.
Silence.
Chapter 2 - The Ride
The airplane was not that bad of a ride, according to Jude. Not as bad as his previous one anyways. He picked a seat next to a man who seemed like he wants nothing to do with anything, as if he wanted to just go to his destination and stay hidden away from society, hating every minute of being in public. As he examined his neighbor, he pictured his face was just like a normal guy’s, but with the amount of lacking emotion as an 80’s white chick pulverizing a piece of gum. He had White Dollar-Store-Quality headphones on his head, a iPhone 7s in his right hand, and his head was so close to the window it reminded him of the new Virtual Reality Headsets. Jude just then put a reminder on his phone to buy one for his son for Christmas, and checked the time - 1:00 PM.
He wakes up to see half of his section of the plane awake, and the other half dead asleep. It was as if they really were dead, if it weren’t for the assorted snoring and the occasional whine of a baby. He checked his watch, 15 minutes to 3 o’clock. He motioned a flight attendant over for a bag of peanuts, though sleep had more control over his body than his sudden hunger. He munched on it, suddenly picturing his son's face on Christmas morn.
He woke up to vibrations that seemed to come from every single angle from him. He could hear babies whining in the background, reminding him of those unplanned parenthood days, still being a "noob" at the whole thing, just remembering his son teaching him that word.
"Tim, if these people online are bugging you, then just leave."
"No, I have no need to leave, I can beat these noobs."
"Don't use that kind of language, son. Not with me, or them."
"What language?"
"Boob. Where did you hear this?"
"Dad, I said 'noob', not 'boob'. And I know what boobs are, the discovery channel and the internet were both made for that same reason, though one shows animal nipples inst-"
"Tim, Enough. I had you, I know what puberty is. What in the world does 'noob' mean?
"Someone new, someone who sucks at everything."
"If these people getting you mad are so easy to beat, why are you even getting mad?"
"Ugh. I dunno. Nevermind, Dad. Just go away."
Jude jerked out of the memory just as his seat - as if copying his actions - jerked back and forth, throwing him out of his memory, as he gets thrown from his seat. He hears words and static from above him, claiming to "race for pin tacks" or something and to put on masks. He realizes this isn't turbulence and puts the mask above him on, ready to "race for pin tack", though he knows what it truly said.
The moment lasted as long as it takes to blink twice.
Chapter 3 - The Aftercrash (Yay wordplay <3)
The stinging feeling of sand crawling on Jude’s back is what takes him back into reality. He uses all his energy to open his crusted eyelids, just to see a hand dragging him across the bloodstained sandpaper ground. He mutters something to the dark silhouette, just to have the shadowman drop him in an instant.
“Cheese and rice! I thought you were dead, I’m so so so sorry…” The shadow shrieked after it caught it’s breath. “My name’s Samantha, what’s yours?”
Jude just lay on the ground, stunned. He felt that Samantha was waiting for a response, but he couldn’t give one.
“Sorry, my bad. I just don’t know what happened other than the plane crashed. The only survivors so far are the ones dragging bodies. You seem to be the only one that woke up, all the other people being dragged are probally dead.” She went on and on, just seeming to vent to the just hired Dr. Jude. She finally caught her breath and said “My name is Samantha by the way.”
Jude sat up, the only sounds he can hear is Samantha panicking and the hiss of an angered cat. Probably just a gas leak.
“You told me already. How many survivors are there?” His head was dizzy, but he felt relieved he was awake enough to talk correctly.
He felt lucky.
“Oh, did I? I’m sorry. There are…” Samantha turned around, counting. Just as she turned back to tell Jude, the sound of an eruption exploded in the air, and he saw a metal door fly in the air, and land on somebody carrying a body. The body seemed smaller than the ex-survivor, so he assumed it was a kid. He can see Samantha is just as shocked as the people near the incident, who just sat down, which he assumed it was because they got tired.
