I was just playing around on Minecraft one morning and trying to think what would be fun to do, and then I remembered the Yogscast's Aether mod spotlight. I thought it would be fun to try this mod myself, so I went to the video and clicked on the link. I looked at the updates for a while, but quickly became bored with that and scrolled down until I came to the download link, which I clicked on. I waited 5 seconds and then skipped the ad, and then pressed the download button. I selected to open it with archive utility. I looked inside the folder and dragged the two folders into my minecraft folder. I then closed the Finder window (I have a Mac OSX 10.6.8) and turned on Minecraft. I created a new singleplayer world called Aether on creative mode, and then built the Aether portal.
I built a 5X4 hollow rectangle of glowstone and then poured water in the middle.
The water spilt down the sides.
Oh.
That was a bit of an anti-climax, wasn't it? I had been expecting a massive adventure with flying pigs and magic coal, and what did I get? A flooded ring of glowstone? I'm obviously doing something wrong.
