So imagine an ant on a rubber rope. The ant goes 5 centimeters a second, and you stretch it 10 centimeters a second. You would think that it would never reach the end since you extend it faster than the ant can travel. Well, actually it will. Its like the expansion of the universe. As it expands, the galaxies spread apart because they are being moved WITH space time. Therefore the ant will eventually reach the end, although it will take a while.
