This is a tutorial that will give you some plugins good for you bukkit server! I am doing this because all the top plugin list have the same plugins and it gets really boring hearing "Essentials is essential for your server!" I will split up the plugins into categories based on must have, fun, and admin tools (because I host an RPG Server and I am sure lots of people do too!)

Must Have (You probably heard a lot of these!)

1. Essentials (Duh) Esssentials is a complete must have that not only adds basic commands like /ban or /kick but it also abbreviates commonly used commands like instead of typing /gamemode <Gamemode> <name>, you can just type /gm <gamemode you want>! It also comes with a built in jail system!

2. World-Edit If you want your server to be good without spending a month just building spawn then you must get world-edit. If you don't know how to use it look it up! There are tons of tutorials on how to use it! This plugin lets you create massive objects with two clicks and a command!

3. PermissionsEx, bPermissions, GroupManager, etc. This is a must have (obviously) for any type of server with ranks. I like to use PermissionsEx because of its flexibilty, but remember with great flexibility comes great complexity.

4. WorldGuard This is what people use to keep people from breaking things inside of peoples territories. This has a lot of other features though, such as making plots, setting certain settings to "allow" or "deny", or switching gamemodes in certain areas.

5. BorderGuard This allows you to set borders to your worlds. Lots of people don't like this plugin because they don't understand why people use it. Well its simple. The more chunks that minecraft uses, the more memory it uses. This can cause severe lag to the server that is virtually unfix-able, unless you delete the world and restart your server.

1. Factions, Gods, etc. If your server has a survival world, then this is something you have to get. Lots of players say they don't like factions because too many servers have it. That is probably true, so why not get Gods? It is a faction based system like factions, but it has more of an RPG twist to it.

2. War This is a really good plugin for just about any server! It allows you to create TDM to CTF maps! This seems like the exact same plugin ShadowRaze uses, and since I haven't seen any differences yet then it probably is!

3. Werewolf, Vampires, etc. To me and my players, any supernatural plugin is always fun for us! Like I said we are an RPG server, so it makes sense. My favorite supernatural plugin has to be Werewolf, because it will actually switch your skin and do a ton of cool stuff like Werewolf Hunts, Werewolf Chat, and even bounties placed on werewolves!

4.HungerBarGames or any other Survival Games/ Hunger Games Plugin. These sort of plugins aren't that common in the average server, and its really a shame, because it is really fun, especially when people make their own custom maps, instead of using Vareide's maps. Personally, I like the HungerBarGames, because of its similarity to mcpvp.

5. MobArena This would've been a lot further in the list, but you have already probably seen it. If you haven't MobArena lets an admin create an arena where players are pit against waves of hostile mobs. The rewards are pretty cool and it is usually the main attraction of any server.

Admin Tools

1. UltraBan This lets you ban and kick like most of these sort of plugins, but it also has some other features I found necessary to manage a server, like check ip, temp ban, temp ip ban, dupe ip, etc. For some reason though, I can't use the /mute command with this plugin, so BEWARE!

2. JSONAPI This is a great plugin for anyone with an iDevice! It lets you get an app on your iPhone or iPod that lets you manage the server almost completely. There is a console, a chat, a plugin manager, and even banned players. It also has a couple of other great things like seeing peoples inventories, teleporting them, and even send them private messages!

3. SimpleConceal This plugin is useful for going invisible and is really easy to use! There is vanish... That's basically it!

4. CoreProtect This plugin has to be one of the best rollback plugins out there! It can even rollback world-edit! If you could rollback VoxelSniper this would definitely be a must have! You can also rollback water movement, creeper damage, and even sapling growth!

5. Last but not least, it is Disguisecraft! You know MobDisguise? Well this plugin is just about the exact same thing! It is better however that it isn't inactive and works with the current craftbukkit! It is more fun then an Admin Tool though so it just barely made this list...

That is it for this blog, so if you liked it don't forget to diamond and subscribe for upcoming blogs!

Why do people say "You forgot this" and "You forgot that" on lists? It's their opinion. You can't change it.

Yes, and there is World Edit posted on #2. He did not mention on World Guard that it requires World Edit, though.
