To breed animals so u get much food/materials:

1: find 2 animals of the same sort (2 pigs, 2 cows, ...) then take wheat in u'r hand.
2: the animals wil follow the wheat and come with u as long u have wheat in ur hand.
3: trap them.
4: click with the wheat on 2 animals of the same sort.
5: the animals wil get hearths above their heads.
6: the animals wil get a baby.
7: u can now kill 1 adult animal.
8: when the baby has grown u start over from step 4.
9: when u accidently killed 2 much animals so there is only 1 left u need to find a new one.
10: make much different animal farms so u get a high production.
11: make it close to u'r home.
12: protect the animals from mobs/wolfs.
13: u dont have to kill sheeps: if u have shears u can just let them stay alive.
14: remember that sheeps regenerate wool if they can eat grass.
15: if u got much farms u'll get much stuff!
