Hello everyone, I'll be doing a server review of a pretty recently opened server called Paintball Cloud.

For the people who're wondering, I am not getting anything from the server/owner for making this review, I just saw the server post and thought they could need some help.

The server is, like you'd expect, mainly a paintball server, but they've already planned some extra features.
I've played on the server for a few days and interviewed the Owner, so read on for more.

Interview:


madmax3004: When was the first moment you ever saw/heard of minecraft?

Cheezbergur11:  I had first heard of minecraft from my friends at school, which was about 2 years ago.
I wasn't that interested, but I was curious as to what it was.

I started playing the free Alpha version of Minecraft (when it WAS free), and I loved it. Then I played Multiplayer on there.

I decided to try the real demo, and so I guess I did ok, but I almost stopped playing forever because ironically, the spiders scared the heck out of me.

I started playing on Peaceful.
THE GAME WAS AMAZING!!!

I slowly but surely got over my fear of Minecraft spiders.

I was getting a little bored with Minecraft, so about half a year ago I started looking into owning a server.
And that's how I got where I am today with Minecraft.

madmax3004: ok, cool!
So you started a server because Minecraft was getting kinda boring for you?
You had any troubles while making it, or did it all run smooth?

Cheezbergur11: Minecraft wasn't getting boring, I was just kind of running out of things to do with it.
Once I got a server, it's like I fell in love with the game all over again ^-^

At first it was a bit hard getting the right plugins and configuring them correctly, but once I did, (mostly) everything ran pretty smoothly

madmax3004: Ow ok, so how did the first few days of running your server go?
And how did you feel when you started it for the first time?

Cheezbergur11: I was a bit nervous, but also excited.
Actually, the server came out on Sunday.

In my opinion I actually got a lot of players, not a lot of them on at once but throughout the day more people joined.
We have a rule on the server: If you make a video for the server on Youtube then you get a cool red [Youtuber] prefix next to your name in-game.

On Monday someone already made a video ^-^

The server didn't get very many people on Monday or Tuesday, but I'm still doing my best.
Overall, the first few days went really good, it was really nice :)

madmax3004: haha cool, and a video already? nice! 
And how did the building of the spawn and arenas go? Any troubles with that?

Cheezbergur11: Well, the problem with the spawn was that I'm not very good at making spawns ._.

I used a nice spawn someone said I could use, and gave them credit at the spawn.
The arenas weren't hard to make, it could just get annoying adding them in the system.

Other than that, the arenas worked out really well. Luckily I didn't make all of them, so far there are 17, 9 of which I made all by myself, but 10 if you include one that I worked one with a Mod.

madmax3004: Ah ok, and how did the staff recruiting go? Had any troubles with people trying to look professional but actually were trolls or such? Or did it all run smooth?

Cheezbergur11: Well actually I had an old server, and trusted Mods on there became Mods on the new server.

When I was chosing then, I had read about how to pick Staff, and people could apply for Staff via emailing the server for an application.

I had made a really good app that weeded out the bad from the good.

Overall, most of the Staff were very good at their jobs. Some even got promoted to Mods.

One of my friends (no names) that I am really good friends with and that I know in real life also became a Mod, there were a few kinks here and there, but other than that, he was a pretty good Mod.

He humbly retired as a Mod, on the server today he is not a Mod anymore (since he retired as Mod), but definitely a very loyal player on the server.

madmax3004: I see, and how did you get the idea of making it a paintball server? or will you expand on it and also add other gamemodes later on?

Cheezbergur11: A long time ago, when the old server was in development, there were 3 things I wanted to start out the server with:
Survival Games, Paintball, and Spleef.

After realizing how much RAM everything took up, and how I should only start with 1 or 2 gamemodes, I had to pick between all of them.

Paintball had the best feel to it, thus it was chosen.

On the new server, if it gets popular enough, I will definitely add more things to it.

Summary of the server:

Lag: nearly none, atleast not when I was online.
Playerbase: still pretty small, but they're slowly getting some more players, also didn't really see any trolls/bullies.
Staff: Pretty active, help you out most of the time.
Fun: It would be better if they'd add some more game types, but for now, it's a pretty fun server to play on with some friends.
Building: The spawn is pretty cool, they also have a pretty hard parcour, the arenas are really cool, and really creative.

Score: 8/10
Reason: even though the server is pretty small, it has good maps, isn't messy, and is really focused on it's paintball, they have ranks you get when achieving a set amount of points, and it has great potention to become a really fun minigame server.

Advice: They could add some small minigames, but that'd mess up the whole "paintball server" feeling.

Extra: I would definitely advice you to check it out, gather some friends and play on pretty epic maps.
Whether you want to play a quick game, or achieve the high score, this is a paintball server you don't want to miss.
