This is a good part of growing up military: the travel; the perspective; the adventure. Southern CA raised me, even though I wasn’t born there. I stepped on my first skateboard there. It was the site of my first ever urbex. I fell in love with the churning ocean, the rolling desert hills dotted with purple statice and sage, and dead palm fronds under your every step.
But the instability and chaos of constant moving led me to seek comfort in a more permanent, controlled environment. Yeah, video games. And more specifically, Minecraft. Funny how it all circles back. This isn’t so much an aesthetic as it is a series of vibrant core memories.
