Capn Sybbyl's Review on Perennial Cove. A creative server
First impressions are everything, even in the world of minecraft. When I joined the server there was staff member present, an Admin, but since the server isn't largely busy I think that's alright. The spawn is very detailed, corlorful, bright, welcoming. But from the inside I can't really tell what it is... So in my first impression a theme was not presented, perhaps this was intentional?
Upon reading the signs posted at the spawn point, I found several directions that I could wander into. I chose server info, I followed it and it lead me to the "Warp Wall" but so far all I have found, is three empty walls with a sign very high up that says "Master" on it. Slightly confusing.
After wandering in this maze of empty walls I found a central area that had three signs with warps on them, but they were not on a wall at all. So the server info sign is misleading. I shall go back to spawn and try another.
I followed spawn info and was lead to the same, signless and info-less area, I'm sure this aggravates more than just myself. Another point, I have yet to see any rules....?
Now I shall see about the organization of the server itself by leaving the spawn without using /Warp Magnolia , which is what leads you to the plots.
Goodness, upon embarking on my adventure I did in fact find the spawn info. When u follow the direction the sign is pointing in, you are headed straight for a set of stairs that leads down into an area beneath spawn, that is where I believed I was supposed to go, it's very difficult to see the secondary sign at least 10 blocks to the right that says server info, which mind you the server info is VERY high up on a wall. Impossible to see if you are still walking around on the floor instead of flying.
Upon looking, I discovered there are several of these easy to miss walls of useful information. Server info tells me that the server is yet to be finished and to be aware of unfinished areas, that would have been useful information before I wandered around in this maze of a spawn. Granted I tell you, the spawn is amazing, the confusion is a problem. I am much more tolerant than your average player, most people would become frustrated with the confusion and leave the server, it's not good for the player base.
Another thing I've noticed... Whoever made these signs has terrible spelling.
Something all creative servers should have is a boundry, a limit that makes it impossible to build within a certain area away from spawn. Upon flying out of the spawn I found an enormous unfinished tree made out of black wool, two gigantic colorful flowers and a small eiffel tower.
As I have discovered I was hoping to have a more appreciative outlook in my review today, but I suppose everyone has their bad days. I do not mean any of what I say to come out as discouraging, harmful or in any way insulting. My reviews are based solely on the outlook of the player, and therefore I express my full and honest opinion, this is all constructive criticism that I hope the Owner will take into consideration, these issues that I have now brought to their attention may be resolved, and will most likely boost their amount of players after such repairs have been made. I do not mean for what I say to blacklist the server in any way, this is why my reviews are done strictly on the First impressions os the server, I do not do reviews on the staff attitude, nor player base, and I do not spend any long period of time playing the server. Thank you for reading,
