Hey, it's me again! XD heheh.. I bet many people hate my random blogs because they're, well, random but OH WELL HERE'S ANOTHER.

Conning. We all know what it is, right? You know, when somebody sells you something but you don't get the item etc? Well, it can also work the other way.

dictionary.reference.com defines 'conning' as a trick that involves the abuse of confidence [point one], to persuade by deception and a lie/exaggeration [my second point].

A few minutes ago I was selling things from my shop on the nopvp.com server, when somebody asks to buy a very valuable item that I only have one stack of. Of course, I did not begrudge him of the item and sold it to him willingly.
I saw him pick up the block, and so did several other people that were in my shop at the time.
Suddenly he changed to an empty hand and said I didn't give him the block, that I lied and cheated him out of his money. This was a lie, so of course at first I refused to listen to him, but when he started telling people not to trust me, I gave in and gave him a second block.

Point one:
'A trick that involves the abuse of confidence'
Many people that sell items and own shops on Minecraft servers need enough confidence to be able to set a price or their products and be confident enough to stand by their decisions and be able to say 'no' to any offers they do not want to trade. You may not notice it in people or even in yourself, but it's there!
This confidence comes easily to everyone, but it can also very easily be destroyed.
In my own encounter with the type of conning I'm talking about today, I was worried that if I didn't give the troll another one of the item he bought, he would make everybody ignore me, even though most people on the server knew he was a liar. This is a sign of your confidence faltering very easily. If you ever encounter a problem on a server like the one I had to work my way out of, just take a deep breath and ignore the troll. Go offline or use the /ignore command if you have to. Just don't listen to them. If you're in the right, you have no reason to feel guilty! :)

Point two:
'To persuade by deception and a lie/exaggeration'
Now I'm going to move on to the other side of this kind of scamming.
Ever bought an item from somebody's server shop because they assured you they were a good seller, and just got a piece of dirt in exchange, and not been able to do anything about it? I sure have. Whether you're on the receiving end or the giving end, neither is very nice. The victim loses money, and the seller gets a bad reputation and can be one step closer to being banned or kicked from the server. I would expand further on this point, but I'm sure you get the idea by now.

If you've been scammed, don't worry, just tell a mod/admin/staff/owner, etc, and make sure you expose the scammer so nobody else falls into the same trap!
If you haven't been scammed yet, just be wary about who you buy from...
If you're a scammer, stop scamming.
Simple!

If you actually read the whole of this blog, thank you! I would send you a virtual cookie if I could >w<
