Well Minecrafters, This is the first time I ever had to deal with copyright infringement, someone by the youtube username of TheMrGam3r26 posted a video of my carrier USS Ronald Reagan. he changed it up a little and claimed it as his own. in the link below you can see my carrier.

http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/uss-ronald-reagan-cvn-76/

and in his video you can see clearly he ripped off of my design. I am going to bring down the hammer of Thor upon him. I have already filed a copyright claim against him but I want to do something else too. something that will tell him "You done goofed"

Wow. Just a big fat wow. I wanna kick the copywriter's azz. Thats just stealing someones creation, and stealing is what punks do. Who would do this? Stealing is a terrible thing to do, even if you changed it up a litte.

I absolutely hate it when this happens, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it. Although including a creative commons license seems to discourage people from stealing my work.  I was thinking about rigging my builds with command blocks so they vanish/explode when tampered with, but I found it's far easier and more effective to just let people download a stripped down version of my build.

Unless you copyrighted your creation through the US Copyright Office at www.copyright.gov, then there is nothing you can do. Creating any form of content AT ALL, no matter what, does NOT protect rights and is NOT enforced by law.

Yes, attempting to take action on copyright, actually requires you to have purchased the rights, and IS a legal issue. Sorry.

Great for reference: www.copyright.gov/circs/circ01.pdf

I've been falsely accused before, but I've managed to have the claim lifted, and Apple Inc. removed all of the songs they were selling.

I found out they were simply uploading and selling the royalty free tracks used in iLife '11 software. I read their terms of use, and the tracks were not to be distributed for profit. Let's just say that "band" no longer exists. Lol

I gotta do the same thing I remember one time on the Minecraft Top 5 show for Machinima. The person who got 1st place got it with the help of some of my creations. The video got more then 500,000 views too.

With the help of your creations? Or did they just copy and paste? There's a difference. Unfortunately, Machinima is a YouTube partner. YouTube partners reserve copyright over the videos they upload, unless they themselves are infringing.

Unless you copyrighted your creation, then there is no way you can pin that on them. Copyright is unfair and harsh, but a reality. Sorry.

Nah I didn't do that. But the series that the person does called "Top 5 Minecraft" has a strict self made content rule and I contacted the creator on it.

I hope they comply. However, I feel the creator isn't going to do anything. They're probably not just going to take the video down. That stuff makes revenue.

They already replied this was awhile ago, they didn't do anything obviously though they just made sure he was never put into the series again.

Alright. That's something, at least. Who was the YouTuber that copied?

Do it. I'm all for ya. Did you leave a signature in the build somewhere that uniquely pinpoints it as yours? I would strongly encourage any crafter to do something like that.

I watermark all of my work, but that doesn't give copyright (it just makes it hard to steal), and legal action cannot be taken unless it is copyrighted and/or trademarked.

It would be scary living in a world where all you had to do was put your name/logo on something, and then nobody else could do it. Although, we're dangerously close to that.

Then again, your logo would have to be registered under the US Patent and Trademark Office. Which, like a copyright, would cost moolah.
