Dai & Night
It was the day her universe ended... She was all alone.
Like a mechanized orrery, each planet orbited its own star appropriately, just as a star would orbit the centre of a galaxy. New celestial bodies were formed from leftovers of past lives – both stars and planets. Some stars borrowed each others' energy; others sucked in all nearby light. The universe behaved just like the curious ecosystems of Earth, only at massive scales.
Dai was a unique, newborn star. Oblivious of whom she was born from, she was happy of all the neighbors that surrounded her with comforting light. As a protostar, she could barely contain enough energy to emit a small light of her own. She was bound orbiting Galaxy, a solemn protector the same age as her.
Galaxy was young too. Unlike Dai, it knew exactly what it was made for, which was to harness the balance of any star system it can create. It knew that, eventually, it would have to abandon its own parents into the unknown. It was bound at the vanguard to travel further away from the centre. Using all of its energy, the only star it could create was Dai herself, the only light it can now depend on. It was too far from any other celestial body to create another child. It feared its life was cut short.
Farther and farther the two carried on. Dai could only glimpse speckles of light from her neighbors. Galaxy became nervous. There were two sides that faced them – the side of the neighboring clusters and the other side of total darkness. They were slipping away from any other known life while entering a black realm.
The realm was called Night. Night surrounded the universe and threatened to swallow it whole, but the universe instead agreed to sacrifice every bit of its luminous flesh into the Night. Black holes were an attempted shortcut to escape Night, yet no surviving matter or light came back. Quasars that shoot out of black holes were weapons of infinite energy to eliminate the Night, but no response was given. They didn't understand that Night doesn't live or die. Even gods born from galaxies didn't dare tread into the unknown. It was just nothing.
They were fated to die within Night. Galaxy was well aware of that, but it couldn't tell Dai. It needed to keep her happy, to keep her tiny light burning. Dai was continuously reassured that they entered through a dark forest before reaching an eternal paradise. She didn't know this forest would have taken her own lifetime before she could cross it.
Then they stopped moving.
Galaxy was dying, and Dai was utterly confused. Night began consuming what little remains of Galaxy. Dai dimmed her light to implore the darkness from eating her only friend. It didn't respond – there was nothing that could respond to her plead. Galaxy ordered her to stop crying, fearing she might lose all her light and die as well. Galaxy could not afford to lose a child it had just created to the darkness. It learned its new role in the universe – to do whatever it can to strengthen the day.
Galaxy submitted to the Night and disassembled its own matter. Dai could not believe it. Night had no trace of mercy. As much cruelty as she called it, she couldn't stop the death of her guardian. She had no ability to control her movement. She had no ability to stop the cycle of life and death. All she could do was watch before living all alone in the dark.
Night now began consuming the tiny light of Dai. In pain and grief, she began weeping, which caused her to lose too much light to the darkness. Her own candle was almost extinguished. She knew this was her end.
With a strong cry, a bright light emerged from her own heart. Galaxy's remains had accelerated her cycle, and she had enough energy to become a stable star. Night staggered from the blinding light. Dai became free of her bond, and could move freely. Using her own light, she thrust towards Night at optimistic speed. The surrounding realm became lighter, more easier to see. She was full of happiness and courage. Using her memory of Galaxy, she broke free of any danger.
Ahead, she could see a familiar dark hole that sucked on her own light. This was not in Night's possession, and she entered it willingly. She embraced a black hole as part of her universal family. She was not afraid of death inside what she might soon become.
The rumours were right – it was a shortcut that allowed her to escape Night.
Inside a new dimension, she could see the interactions of all lost stars and galaxies. The entrance closed behind her, and she was tempted never to return to the dying universe. Here, Night was non-existent. This is where life goes on without death, and whatever that does die resurrect and reincarnate into new beings. Planets chose to orbit what star it likes. Comets raced around the realm towards an infinite finish line. Each and every celestial body committed to create one portal for all the dark universes to take refuge here. There seemed no end to the celestial life in this realm.
Dai shined brightly, gaining the admiration and friendship of all the free stars and galaxies. She dedicated her new life in the eternal paradise to Galaxy, one who sacrificed itself to strengthen the day and conquer the night.

And a little suggestion: The jukebox music is nice but why don't you put it on top into a spoiler or something? Halve way reading downwards scrolling the story I came across the jukebox. So I missed that extra bit of reading + fitting music. Ah well I listen it while write this comment.
I could just put the youtube video on top below the title, good suggestion :O
