Hello Fellow traveller. I am Steve. It seems you have stumbled upon my book. You may be staring at this paper thinking "What on earth is one of Steve's books doing down in this dark, cold cave? And what use could it possibly be for me?". Well, crazy as you may think, this book will save your life. Trust me. This book is here to aid you on your adventures. To hopefully allow you to learn new things. This is my "Book of Survivial". The following is vital information that you must know.

Well... where to start? Of course everyone needs their place to call home, right? Early on, you're only to worry about the needs, like a bed, crafting table, furnace and chest storage. Later, when you have good supplies, you can start to worry about the decorative side of things. I mean, doesn't everyone want to live in a somewhat 'nice' looking house? Anyway, let's just talk about the basics. A good shelter requires walls, a ceiling and a door. Best that you don't use pressure plates for the doors. Yes, it may be a quicker way to enter your house, but you're not the only one who can get in. Other creatures can come inside your house, too! It may be best to make your first house out of something non-flammable, like cobblestone. The only thing is... how are you going to get this cobblestone? Well, I was just coming to that.

Another must is a basic set of tools; a pickaxe, sword, axe, shovel and hoe. the last three are optional, but they make the job quicker, but the sword and pickaxe are vital. There isn't a likely chance you'll survive without them, really. You're going to start with wooden tools. They are the weakest, but you wouldn't be able to get better gear without them. With your wooden pickaxe, you can gather stone to upgrade your tools. Now you have stone tools. With stone you mine iron. Ooh! What's that sound? Ta da! another upgrade! See how satisfying it can be?

Eventually you're going to find diamonds. These are the strongest tools. Scrap the idea of making gold tools. They may look nice and shiny, but they are so weak at the same time!

What's that you say? You're hungry? Looks like you're going to need some food! There are many ways to get food. You can kill animals to harvest their meat. You cook the raw meat in a furnace to cook it. you can also go fishing if you're more into seafood. And yes, vegetarians we haven't left you out! You can always make a farm to harvest carrots, spuds, wheat ( to make bread), melons, pumpkins (to make pumpkin pie. also looks good as a mask)  apples and mushroom stew. And you're also in luck if you're a sweet tooth, because you can also make cake. Yes....cake! Just writing this makes my mouth water. Sadly, As I am writing this book, I am stuck down in this cave after falling and getting knocked out. I have no food. I should probably move on before I go crazy...

Speaking of weapons and tools before reminds me that another incredibly useful thing is a bow. It is great if there are monsters that need killing and you don't want to get too close to them. To use a bow, you must have arrows in your inventory. They can be dropped by skeletons when killed, and also can be crafted using a stick, flint and feathers. If you enchant your bow, it has a chance of having an infinity enchantment. This is a great enchantment to have because you have unlimited arrows. So long as you have atleast one arrow in your inventory, you can shoot as many times as you like.

Mobs have different drops when killed. Some are useful, some are just annoying things that take up your precious inventory space (does this remind you of rotten flesh at all?). here are some examples of how mob drops can help:

skeleton: bones; feed wolves to tame them; you now have a cute, fluffy friend; dog protects you from most common mobs.

spider: string; used to make fising rod; catch fish; either eat fish (poor fish) or keep it as fishy companion.

We should now probably learn some more about mining, One of the key things in minecraft. One magor rule is: avoid the lava! I've lost count of how many times I've slipped and fallen in, all of my things being burnt to a crisp. Maybe I should have considered drinking a fire resistance potion?

another important rule while mining is: never dig straight up or down! reasons why? There could be lava beneath/above you, you could fall right into a mob spawner filled with monsters ready to kill... the list goes on. But my hand is aching and my quill is snapping, so I'm not going to list any more. Anyway, I'm sure you get the point.

So, hopefully you learned something. I hope this survival book of mine has helped you, and you now know a little more about the world you live in, and how you can live through whatever is thrown at you. This world relies on you. I rely on you, too. Stay safe and survive!

sincerely, Steve

p.s. Did I mention not to play with TNT? (I probably sound like your mother right now)
