I was writing the same over and over on each off my model-pack pages. So I made this page, to cover all the general aspects of my models.

» How to use them «

I have divided my model-packs in three categories:

Rock: Solid blocks including slabs and stairs.
Wood: Non-solid blocks.
Metal: Non-placeable items.
  • Model Silver (Not released yet)

So to have a full package, you would need to activate a pack from each of these three categories. Though you can also use packs from just two or one categorie(s). It's all about choice :)

Beyond that, you can also add a texture-pack (If somebody ever make one). Such texture pack must be the first in the list of active resource-packs. You can easily change the order on the small up and down arrows in Minecraft.

So on Minecraft's resource-pack page, the right side column with "Selected Resource Packs" could look like this:
Awesome Textures (Imaginary pack)
Model Basalt - Double Slabs
Model Basalt
Model Oak
Model Silver (Not released yet)
Default

» How to make new textures «

The easiest way is to copy the textures found in one or more of my packs, to your own pack and then repaint them. They are in a sub-folder named after the pack, and must be placed likewise in your pack. Sometimes there can be more than one folder.

This way, you don't have to worry about updating the models yourself when the model format (i.e. json) changed. Then you indicate on your page that your texture-pack supports: Model Xxxx vX.X - Model pack, with a link to it's PMC page. You can also display an icon with the text if you want. Link to such an icon is provided on the page of each of my packs.

If you already have made a texture-pack and want to support these models, you can just add your re-painted textures for whichever of my packs that you want. And you texture-pack will work both with and without my model-packs.

Another other option is to put the models directly in your pack. Downside to this is that the user can't chose which model pack to use. Or not to use one at all if on a slow machine. On the other hand, you can decide exactly which models u want with your pack, by mix and matching models from the different packs (If you know how to). In this case you must indicate on your download page of your pack, that I have made the models in your pack.

Texture resolution can always be up-scaled. So a pack marked with 16x16 can have textures made of any of the standard resolutions. But a pack marked with 32x32 can not use textures of 16x16. At least not with a good result.

On the page of most of my models, will be a link to a template resource-pack. These are texture-packs with coloured textures for easier identification as to how the texture is wrapped on the models (UV-mapping). They need the model-pack itself to function.

» If you want to stay on my good side «

Do not re-upload my resource-packs to this or other sites.

Do not re-mix my models and upload them as a new resource-pack, without new textures.

You may pack my model-packs with a map. E.g. an adventure map. In which case you should put a small credit to me on it's download page.

Do not change my models. You are welcome to look and examine my models to get ideas. But use these ideas by making your own models from scrats.
