I'm gonna try something new, and talk about the Dojutsu datapack here; I plan to discuss upcoming changes, ideas, and do polls to get your guy's opinions on the datapack! This blog is mostly for fans of the datapack, but if you found your way here but don't know about it, you should check it out!

Upcoming Sage Mode Changes

I owe majority credit to REDAnime14 for his great ideas for Sage Mode! So in the next update (unless another bug fix update is necessary before I get to add the new Sage Mode stuff), I'll be adding 2 new types of Sage Mode: Snake Sage Mode and Slug Sage Mode. Even though there's not canonically Slug Sage's (at least I don't think there are), it's a cool idea so I'm doing it!

So obtaining Sage Mode is going to be the first change. You'll now only be able to gather Natural Energy in certain biomes (Until you become a Sage, then you can gather anywhere). The first time you reach 100% Natural Energy, based on your biome, you'll become a different type of Sage:
  • When learning Sage Mode in a Swamp, you will become a Toad Sage.
  • When learning Sage Mode in a Stronghold, you will become a Snake Sage.
  • When learning Sage Mode in a Dark Forest, you will become a Slug Sage.
You'll only be able to become a Sage once, so keep that in mind before you reach 100% Natural Energy. Each type of Sage will have 2 abilities in the first few slots of the actionbar, similar to Six Paths Sage Mode.

Toad Sage Mode gives increased resistance, and other benefits may be added as you level up Sage Mode.

Starch Syrup Gun

Shoot liquid from your mouth, slows whatever it hits.

Costs 100 Chakra

Sage Art: Frog Call

Emit a loud and distracting sound from your mouth.

Costs 100 Chakra

Snake Sage Mode

When in Snake Sage Mode, anything you hit will also be poisoned for 1 second.

Sage Art: Great Snake Lightning

Create 5 beams of Chakra that shoot out from where you're looking. Deals damage on contact.

Costs 300 Chakra

Sage Art: White Rage Technique

Shoot out a red beam, which will create a bright (non destructive) explosion.
Freezes and blinds anyone within 3 blocks of the explosion.

Costs 300 Chakra

Slug Sage Mode

When in Slug Sage Mode, you'll get regeneration every 10 seconds.
(This might be changed in the future if it proves to be too OP)

Tongue Tooth Sticky Acid

Shoot acid from your mouth, which gives the Wither effect on contact.

Costs 100 Chakra

Slug Great Division

Create up to 3 (6, if in Six Paths Sage Mode) small Katsuyu where you're standing. They will automatically disappear after 1 minute.
Gives regeneration to all nearby entities within 5 blocks.

Has no Chakra costs


Rinnegan / EMS changes

So as DankTank360 pointed out: it takes less time to awaken the Rinnegan than EMS, and you're most likely to have the Rinnegan before getting EMS, which honestly doesn't feel right. So I'm thinking of increasing the time to get the Rinnegan to 48 hours, but since that's a long time, and a big change (compared to the old time of about 6 hours), I wanted the opinion of you guys before I make the change.

Does the new time feel too long? Not long enough? And any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated!


Server/Discord Stuff

This is still a long ways out, but I've been thinking for a while to make a Discord server, and a multiplayer server for people to talk and play Dojutsu together. I can't afford to setup a decent server, so I started a new Patreon tier if you want to help support to creation of the Minecraft server.

The Discord server would be free to join, of course. But the Minecraft server wouldn't; since I cannot run the datapack on any non-vanilla server, I won't have access to plugins. No plugins means no anti-grief, so the only people who could join would have to be trusted. I'll definitely let the people who've helped make this datapack what it is join free of charge, so long as they respect the rules of the server.

I have a ton of experience with setting up and maintaining large servers, so I definitely know what I'm doing when it comes to servers. So you don't have to worry about that!

As for the Discord server, I'll try to work on it in my spare time. If you know about setting them up/have moderation experience, get in contact with me! I wouldn't expect either the Minecraft server, or the Discord server for a while, there's still a ton to be done before either will be ready to go!


Looking for anyone who knows a bit about making datapacks too!


I'm hoping someone out there would be willing to help make more Jutsu, I can make the items/textures no problem. But with all these big plans that I want to work on I find it hard to make jutsu too. Jutsu usually take me quite some time to plan out, actually make, polish, and balance. I'd honestly rather be spending that time to better other neglected parts of the datapack.

So if anyone out there is able and willing to help, I'd love you dearly.



I also have some upcoming plans:
  • A large rewrite of much of the codebase (I've learned a lot from my Survival datapack)
  • A story mode (this probably won't come out for quite awhile) (If you want to help with this, message me!)


Kamui Plans
I want to allow the user to set waypoints, and you draw yourself (nearby people too), or draw others, into the Kamui dimension (like, adding a new Kamui dimension that acts like the nether with fast-travelling). And when in Kamui your Mangekyo abilities will change to pull what you're looking at out, pull yourself out, goto a waypoint, or just run around in Kamui and then pull yourself out of Kamui to be in a different place in the overworld!

The waypoints will be colored when set, so you have to remember what color goes where. And there will be a limited number of waypoints (but you can remove them somehow, but haven't figured out how I'll do it).


These are my current ideas for a future Kamui update!

In my eyes, I see the EMS as more of an optional upgrade to the MS and its awakening time has never really been to much of an issue to me. I think that the Rinnegan's awakening time is too short though. Maybe you could double the time to 12 hours. If you really want to have the EMS to be unlocked first, then maybe you could have the Rinnegan take 24 hours and the EMS take 12 hours instead.

hmm maybe just make the time to get Rinnegan 24 hours or just have a new method to obtain it then waiting a certain amount of time

Also you should give some skill buffs when we become the sage of some animal. For example:

Snake: Genjutsu skill points

Slug: Medical skill points

Toad: Taijutsu skill points

I think after reaching a certain level in sage mode, you would unlock your sage animal summoning jutsu. Example:

I have the snake sage chakra, I unlock the snake summoning jutsu

There are plans to add summoning Gamabunta, Manda, and Katsuyu in the future. There is a backlog of 3D model work already, so they'd be added after Susanoo and Tailed Beast models are completed.

another slug sage mode ability could be some kind of healing jutsu summoning a slug that heals you while your near it

Maybe it could be "Slug Great Division" and it spawns a little Katsuyu that heals you when nearby it, like you suggested!

a idea i had for c1 explosion style jutsus were
a."exploding clay birds" have it shoot one or more white projectiles that make a little explosion on impact

b. "explosive clay dolls" summons a few entity's then go after near by players/mobs and explode after a short time
also love the datapack the new update is great

Something that you might want to change is wait time for EMS. If you are playing an Otsutsuki or playing Uchiha and get your hands on hashirama cells early on then you are most likely going to awaken the rinnegan before EMS. As an Otsutsuki you naturally get the rinnegan after 6 real life hours of sharingan usage if my calculations are correct. EMS requires that you run your world for 4 times as long. I get that Uchiha are 90% of the time going to get EMS before rinnegan but thats only because they need to find hashirama cells, get the medical points to implant it, and hope it doesnt fail (basically rng reasons). I think a cool change would be that once you awaken the mangekyo sharingan you can make it so that the jutsu cost a lot of chakra and make the eye strain go up really fast. But as you use it the jutsu become more powerful (less chakra cost and more damage) and the eye strain goes up slower but to replicate the blindness in the show you can make it so that the more you use your eyes the more damaged your vision is (fog or something of the sort) and your eye strain cannot be reset to 0% anymore and the percentange you can set it back lowers as they use it more so that someone who just got MS can rest their eyes to 0 strain while someone with an armored susanoo can't go below 80% or 90% eye strain (this would be offput by the fact that the jutsu are more powerful and are much less strenuous on the player) until they max out armored susanoo (when their susanoo reaches level 4) and their eyes become unusable. You can them make it so that the player gains the "eyes of a close one" and implant them but instead of instantly being able to use their sharingan or MS abilities they have to wait for their eye strain to reset to 0% and then they would awaken EMS and their MS jutsu would no longer produce eye strain (including susanoo)
