As the years have worn and torn at my heartstrings
The seasons of the years broke and beat me
My heart’s love did not tremble like a leaf just hanging on a tree in Autumn,
My heart didn’t freeze like the lakes in Winter
My love for you blossomed like the valleys in Spring
And pure joy guarded my heart in Summer.
But my heart still felt the seasons go by,
My heart saw the miracles in Spring
And my heart felt the coolness of Winter fade away
At your smile the blossoms bought
My heart watched the birth of a new world
And I got to hold your heart throughout.
In the hot wake of Summer, you kept my heart in sweet company,
The sandy beaches and the shining ocean greeted us
Like sunshine coming in on gentle mornings
Like your smile as we danced in the rain
Your laughter like a cold lemonade by the water
And my heart soared like eagles catching the drifts
My heart danced as the wind wisped away the Autumn leaves,
Your cheeks turned a rosy pink as the leaves faded to orange
The wind chilled the world, you kept my heart warm
And in the cold mornings, we watched the sun rise and empty the trees
And my heart sang along as we sip pumpkin-spiced magic
And danced to the tune of the winds.
And so my heart, wrapped in warmth watched a snow storm take you home,
The trees dressed themselves in white as I dressed in black
The warmth of the world left as you did
The snow fell from the sky, like tears as I said goodbye
But my heart sees you in the laughter of children playing in the snow
And when Spring chases away the cold harshness, may it chase my grief with it.
May the seasons leave my tattered heart in peaceful stillness.
