Ever wanted to make the best faction on the server? Here you are.
Try to find a reasonably new factions server, and play it.
Invite some trustworthy friends to join your faction.
Start your journey away from spawn. On the way cut wood, mine coal, hunt, etc.
Walk, swim, or ride a boat until you lag from being far from spawn.
Gather up materials and make a base.
Your base could have furnaces, chests, farms, mines, nether portals, whatever.
Some ways to protect your base from being raided are:
Donating can also help you a lot. On servers with good donation ranks, you might be able to get tnt, diamonds, in game cash, all that stuff. This can be a real advantage. Also, if you donate, you won't get permanently banned unless you do something REALLY bad for the server.

- Cover it in water. This will stop all TnT explosions on your home
- Build underwater! Impossible to blow up from the outside.
- Make a hidden entrance to the base.
- Have a little house covered in water that could lead to a ladder far down into the ground, where your base is.
