Hello! I've made this to teach you how to make a basic farm in the side of a mountain or an underground farm in a basic way. I hope this helps the readers!
*Items needed: Tools for mining, 1 Bucket, X amount of torches, X amount of Seeds, and X amount of Sugar Cane*

First, collect Seeds by mining tall grass which is mostly found in plains biomes. Next you need to find Sugar Cane which can only be found on Dirt or Sand blocks directly next to a Water block. After you have collected said materials you need to start constructing your farm. You can build it into the side of a mountain or underground.
First, the side of mountain tutorial. This is the general size I use. You may resize it and edit it to whatever design you would like. This is just a guideline.

I'm going to do this from bottom layer to top layer. The following represent different materials.
D representing Dirt, W representing Water, C representing Sugar Cane, S Representing Seeds, and B representing Blank.
