The farming guild is rather unheard of. Most people will never hear of it in their lifetime.
This is a simple tactic to use up a 16x16 space purely for farming/breeding.
If you want to skip the etc. things just scroll to the very bottom & look for the "In Short"
First off you must know that the only grow-able foods, (not including apples or cocoa beans) is cake, bread & melon
Cake being the best, simply because
1: it is place-able
2: because it recovers the most
3: it has multiple servings
4: it is extremely easy to make once you have 3 buckets, and 9 iron is chumpchange.
Note that there are only 3 animals
The best animals, as well. Not including pets.
Cows, chickens and sheep are the top 3 to grow. Cows being the best, then chickens, and sheep last.
Wool is nice for decorations but sheep don't drop food.
Chickens are great, almost always drop food & feathers, required for arrows.
But cows? Milk, leather and beef. The perfect animal (not including the mooshroom, who also produces mushroom stew as well as milk)
This farm, once the crops get going and the animals are bred well, can support a town of 20+ depending if you focus melon or not.
This being of course, melon is the best crop to grow. Fast & feeding to an infinite amount, while wheat is troublesome.
But keep in mind wheat and eggs are still required for cake, so if you like the lies, keep them eggs coming.
In a town of style not warfare, sheep are a must-have for their lush color compared to the daily grays, if you know what I mean.
But in a town of solid warfare, chickens and cows are a must-have. Chickens for the arrows and the cows for the armor and food. You can even make this farm multi-level, though it is more complex and an eyesore.
~~~In Short:
A 16x16 fenced perimeter, with 3 fenced-up pens, 2 are a 3x3 space, one is a 6x3 space. The 6x3 should be reserved for what animal you wish to focus, so if your making a militia, i suggest cows or chickens be focused.
Pets can also be grown but only by the owner, don't forget that!
2 6x6 farms of melon & wheat together, and sugarcane along the fence, which has water beneath it to save space.
