It
has been 2 months since I made my last blog. TWO MONTHS! However, in
that time I started a decently successful Youtube Group, my own
Youtube channel, and got 90% on a French Test. So I've been fairly
busy. Anyway, today I decided I would launch the official beginning
of my new series My First Thoughts...I think that's what it's called.
Digging
In
Alright,
so as the title clearly says I am going to be giving my first
impressions on Spiderman: Edge of Time...the video game, not the
movie. I believe this is an old game, old meaning 2009. Either way
this game is, put in one word, AMAZING (if you got that reference you
win a cookie). It involves, as always, Peter Parker A.K.A Spiderman,
plus a new edition to the Spiderman gang (including Spiderman, Doctor
Octavious, etc), Spiderman 2099. Essentially, Spiderman 2099 is a
Spiderman from the future.
He is exceptionally faster than the original Spiderman and has cooler
moves. The original Spiderman is made from a radioactive spider bite,
like everyone already knows. Spiderman 2099 is made through advanced
genetics by a man named Dr. Alchema. Dr. Alchema owns a laboratory
known as Alchema Industries in the year 2099, however; Dr. Alchema
goes back to Peter Parker's time and takes over the world. As both
Spidermen the player must defeat Dr. Alchema and his henchmen.
Story
Okay
so in the Digging In section I basically summarized the entire
story. My thoughts on it are that it's not exactly unique, but it
brings a twist to it. Spiderman has always been a fun game for me, no
matter what game it is. Somehow, no matter who makes the game, the
game makers seem to stick to the original Spiderman story, but making
it more fun and easily interactive. This game is no different.
Needless to say, I love this story.
Controls
The
controls are highly responsive and easy to twerk with. It's mostly
mashing buttons, but it does it in a way that you aren't constantly
mashing the same button over and over again. It does actually take
some thought to defeat an enemy. For instance the main first boss
battle you have to fight an enemy (obviously). If you just constantly
hit square, which is the melee button for PS3, you will lose over and
over again. You actually have to time your button presses wisely as
well as use a variety of different moves.
I also love how Spiderman and Spiderman 2099 are completely different.
That wasn't even sarcasm. Spiderman moves like the regular Spiderman
should with bland moves, etc. Spiderman 2099, on the other hand, is
insanely fast. More on that in the next section.
Graphics
As
previously mentioned Spiderman 2099 is way faster. However, the
animation is done in such a way that you won't get motion sickeness.
They could have easily just sped up Spiderman 2099, but instead they
actually put the enemies in a slo-motion sort of state. Basically you
are fast, but you look like you are fighting normally. That's the
main graphics statement, but I'd also like to say that this game
looks very nice. It's not too cartoony and it looks semi-realistic.
