Forge vs ModLoader

Hi everyone! Probably only players that joined during or before 1.4.7 will recognize "ModLoader". Or maybe you just read older, outdated mod posts, may it be here on PlanetMinecraft, or on the Minecraft Forum. For those of you who don'tknow what ModLoader is, it is an older mod loader for Minecraft. In my opinion, it was "killed" by Forge Mod Loader. However, some outdated mods still use ModLoader. Let's take a look at the pros and cons about ModLoader! (No biased information is presented.)

Cons - ModLoader
  • Only supported by outdated Mods
  • May be difficult for some people to install
  • Less professional installation
  • May be difficult for some people to install mods


Pros - ModLoader
  • May be quicker to install
  • Easier to download than Forge
  • User-friendly


Cons - Forge Mod Loader
  • May be difficult to find (and download) your desired version
  • Can be seen as non-user-friendly


Pros - Forge Mod Loader
  • Extremely easy to install mods
  • Professional installation
  • Generally better for mod development
  • Status information in debug menu (F3)
  • Faster and easier installation

Now, each mod loader has its own positives and negatives, however, as you can see, Forge has less cons than pros. Why is this? Forge is generally better than ModLoader. Some of us older Minecraft version players will miss ModLoader, but myself, I will not. I had so much problems trying to install it. We should all wish a goodbye to ModLoader, and say hello to Forge!
