Why do people grief?

Does anyone even actually like these people? I'm not even kidding they take the piss.
I just can't get my head round why they do it?
Ok I'm gunna tell you a little story.
Ok so I was searching up servers, goin on, having a little look, thinking of the good and bads of them so I could get some info I could use on Redink. And I spot a griefer just there. And hes like "Hey, wanna help?" And I'm like wtf man!?!? Are you some joke.

I just don't get it.

True, just try to ignore them and message a mod. What I do is just not talk to them wait for them to offend one of the rules and call a mod straight away, really pisses them off.

It gives them some sort of pride, and apparently is entertaining...
I know, my friend was a griefer until I convinced him to stop! He'd always email me and say "We're going to grief this nooby server, want to come help us?" I absolutely hated it D:<
