As night approaches, the streets slowly turn more popular. The pumpkins stand out now, and look more impressive than they once did a couple hours ago. More and more people keep joining the streets, and you think gladly of the idea of more appearing. It isn't quite fully dark, some light still stains the sky, but honestly you only get one chance every year. It's best to start early you think, rather than late. You stop scouting the streets, and turn back to the house you have lived in, and worked in for an extremely long time. They will be at the door soon, and you need to prepare for them. You pull out your phone, and dial your co-workers. It's a lot more easier these days, having the benefits of technology helps a tremendous amount. In the old days, it was a ton of planning, but you aren't complaining. "We are in position, give us the signal when you are reading" your phone crackles as the voice is played. All is in place you think, and see the approaching children from the distance. As they make the way towards your door, you come out before they can knock. "Trick or treat!" the children scream in your presence. You grasp the sides of the enterance of the doors, and look both ways to see if anyone else is around. You don't see anyone. You say the words "The Night welcomes you" but the children look confused and turn to leave. Then they realise, they can't. Their bodies are frozen in time, and the bushes outside of your door rustle, and four dark pale figures, make their way toward the children. You nod as they pick the children up, and take them into the crypt which is hidden between two bushes. Then you turn back inside, and think about the work that the rest of the night has given you. You sigh and close the door.
