- First of all, select your character or object to skin
This is considered a planning phase for me as a skinner, that I have to select or draw the character I'd like to skin. For example I chose this girl here, which is a "yandere Erdgeist girl" from New Class of Heroes: Chrono Academy... - Pick the colors relevant to your reference material
Okay, we got the "yandere girl" downloaded. Now, open up your graphics creation program (be it MCSkin3D, Photoshop, Paint.net, GIMP, GraphicsGale), and pick the most prevalent color to serve as your base color. After picking your base color, pick two darker shades of your base color at the left, and one highlight right beside the base color.
NOTE: Doing your palette on MCSkin3D is a bit more on your gut feel in picking colors, as if executed in image creation programs, you can pick colors better, make a layer, and put them all in faithfully to the source. Oh, I recommend you to have 2-3 shades of the base color. - Prepare your 64x32 skin sheet, and paste your palette at an empty space.
Place your palette in an empty space on your skin, preferably beside the arm section. - Now, do a blockout of your desired character's base colors
- Shade 'em well!
