Hey-O! Chronalga here with another blog! Before we begin, I do want to say that I do not mean to insult the creator of Herobrine or any of his followers. This is purely for entertainment (I try and throw some humor in there every once and a while) and to give people my insight on Herobrine.

Introduction: Who Is Herobrine?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Herobrine: Why He Was Created, Why He Still Exists, And Why His Time Is Up.
Most of us have seen this image before, right? (Yeah, it's fuzzy, but you don't have to read it.) This is the first big story of Herobrine, a mythical creature that is identical to Steve, except he lacks pupils. He builds random structures in the world, follows you, and sometimes tries to kill you. Ever since this one 'incident', Herobrine sightings and encounters have been popping up everywhere, and almost all of them have been proven fake. (Photoshop these days... probably the greatest weapon a troll can have.) There is an extremely arge amount of reasons why Herobrine is so popular, and why he came about in the first place. I've done my best to compile the main ones (as well as my personal opinion on the matter) into this very blog.

Part 1: Why He Was Created
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Theory 1: To Get Attention.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of us want to be famous, right? (I know there are many of you who say you don't want to be famous, but usually people that say that already are.) Well, if you don't feel like putting effort in something the community will like, your other option is to scare them. It's very easy to construct and get people to believe a situation like Herobrine, because back in Alpha when it was created, there were many, many bugs in Minecraft. Finding a 'bug' so revolutionary will definitely get you famous, especially if it's scary and can be investigated by the viewer. Also, much of Herobrine is unknown, and people love finding (making up) new facts about him, which can then be used to give them attention, and the cycle will continue until those of us who think he's done get our way.

Theory 2: To Appease Creepy-Pastaers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Herobrine is everything someone who loves Minecraft and Creepy Pastas could want. He's paranormal, deadly, stalks you, and is very vague. It's really easy to write stories about him for many reasons. First of all, he's known and feared by a lot of people, so without much effort you can appeal to a large audience. Second of all, because there's an extremely small amount of confirmed information about him, story tellers can easily twist the story one way or another, and it allows for more types of stories to keep the Legend of Herobrine going. Lastly, he's pretty much the only Minecraft-related creepypasta material that has very little known about him (Slenderman doesn't count), and pretty much any other scary thing in Minecraft has most everything about them proven fact. Basically he's something made-up that canbe used to make more made-up stuff. Intriguing, isn't it?

Part 2: Why He Still Exists
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reason 1: He's Scary.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From what I've seen, heard, and experienced, quite a few Minecrafters enjoy scary things. Most of us like a good chill, and as for us die-hard geeks who wouldn't touch physical activity with a 40-foot pole (primarily because a pole that long would be too awkward to pick up), it gives us an easy and exciting way to get an adrenaline rush. (I know we get adrenaline rushes from final boss battles, but most social people wouldn't deem such silly 'nerd' stuff worthy). I discussed some about this topic in the previous reason, because that's truly who he is. He was meant to scare people, and he does an amazing job, because A. he has a reputation for being stalkerish and deadly, B. there's very little evidence of him and not much is known about him, and C. anything without pupils is scary. The creator of Herobrine definitely knew how to please a crowd. I really don't think a pony in the fog would be anywhere near as popular.

Reason 2: He's Minecraft's Main Mysticism.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you know about Herobrine? How much of that is proven fact? I know I've said this before, but we really can't cofirm that much about him. He's not truly in the game (Any chance of him ever being in the game was removed long ago, when the human mob was taken out), so Notch and Jeb can't help clear up anything, especially since they didn't create him. Which means it's up to us to decide what's fact. 'Us' being the millions of Minecraft players, we can't decide on anything. (Except Minecraft is amazing!) Either way, Herobrine truly is Minecraft's main mysticism, because he has virtually been integrated into vanilla because of what so many of us believe. I personally think it adds to the RPG-ness that so many people fear (and people like me look forward to) and really has established what Minecraft truly is, a game of the people. It's pretty funny, watching 'pure-minecrafters' begin to believe in Herobrine, because it totally goes against their beliefs. (It doesn't happen very
often, but when it does, I prefer dos equi- I mean, it's hilarious.)

Conclusion: Why I Think It's Time For Herobrine To Return To His Grave.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's opinion time! Yay! First of all, don't get me wrong. I honestly think that he's pretty cool, but he needs to go. He's served his time well, but he's too... overused. All these 'encounters' and 'sightings' are driving me up the wall! Herobrine's not real. He's never been real, never will be real, and isn't real. Followers of him are going to have to get over that. That's the only way to put it. I know Herobrine's been used nicely recently (Herobrine's Mansion), but a new generation of Minecrafters is coming. I think we need a new horror/mystical meme, because the last thing this world needs is more noobs 'sighting' and 'encountering' him. I think it's time we get a meme that's actually there, one that can be proven true, yet is pretty vague. True (old) Minecrafters will always remember him as the founder of Minecraft creepypastas and mysticism, and that thing in the fog that terrified them during their nooby days.

We Will Always Remember Those Pupil-less Eyes...

Something new does need to be made up, because right now Herobrine is the only scary thing in Minecraft (Except for cave noises). If Herobrine goes before something new comes in, I wouldn't be able to laugh about any scary elements with my friends in Minecraft.

"Herobrine" could actually have been a prank someone played on someone which they thought was real and apparently it spread out. Or maybe it could be a bunch of people who just hack into people's singleplayer worlds or servers and fake to be him.
