People who are talented do not owe you work just because they are talented. If someone is on a server and building or staffing, they obviously want to specifically build or mod on that server not yours. Building and modding takes time, not everyone had time to build on mod on serveral servers. You are essentially asking people to take away thier time on that server and go on yours and that is incredibly rude.

Good builders do not have "more rejection rights" EVERYONE can reject someone, no one "owes" strangers thier time or consideration. If you want builders there is plenty of websites INCLUDING this very website were you can ask people and see thier work.

It doesn't matter how kindly you phrase your request or who you ask--popular or not, famous or not, talented or not--when someone is playing a game, they don't want "advertising." It is rude to do that, so people are going to be quite rude back.

And yes, any form of mentioning another server that isn't the one you are playing on is advertising, regardless of intent. It's often against the server's rules--so of course someone is going to tell you to go away, because they don't want to get in trouble for associating themselves with someone breaking the server rules.

It is also not flattering to be invited to be staff on a server, since there are so many servers out there that are constantly begging for staff/players that the request has no value. 

I reject any request from a stranger asking me to be server staff. Most of these requests are trolls or people who haven't figured out yet that this method doesn't work.

You can safely recruit people here through the forums--there is an entire section dedicated to people looking to be staff/looking for staff. It is also policed by PMC moderators who make sure people don't 
say "shut up."
