At first your answer to this question will be: ˝Well,of course subscribing affects popularity, the more subs you have better you are˝,but being popular is not the same as being good, here on PMC.

I have seen plenty of users having dozens and hundreds of subscribers but yet their skins/projects lack in originality and quality, however on the other side many users that make much better stuff do not have almost any subscribers :(

Why is that so?

Honestly,i have no idea.

Many people that browse PMC do not have an acc so they can´t subscribe.Other people that have accs are maybe to lazy to subscribe or give a diamond, since diamonds lost their purpose as well,as Enraric mentiones them in his blog
http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/my-thoughts-on-diamonds-and-diamond-etiquette/
In one of his blogs about ˝1%˝ he states that subscribers do greatly affect your view and diamond count, which is true.So you might say that you in fact do get popular with many subs. However that is the main problem here.People that have many subs get many diamonds -> many diamonds means popular post -> afterwards more people will subscribe to you if you have a popular post and the process repeats it self, leaving the less famous, hard working users behind,to result in them eventually leaving the site because they feel less productive.
My point is that we all need to pay more attention to the quallity of a post, not just to the diamond/sub count. Many of us,when we see that person has a lot of diamonds, tend to give one as well, unlike when we see a person with no diamonds. We subconsciously choose to ignore a persons hard work if they don´t have enough diamonds. If they are not popular enough. And why are they not popular enough?Because they do not have as many subscribers as others do.
Which get´s us back to the main question.Does subscribing affect your popularity?
It most certanly does,if you do not have much subs and you make quality work, but if you have hundreds of subs they lose value to you,and can just push down the less popular.
Dislaimer:
I don´t say that people with that many subs did not deserve them! Most of them did,I just want us all to pay more attention to other, small artists and architects. If you see that someone did a hard work on their post, don´t
hesitate, subsribe them!It will mean a lot to them and it only takes you half a second to do it :)

Thank you for reading my first blog.If there is anything unclear feel free to comment.Everyone loves feedback :) !

I feel like you have to provide over the top and/or excellent quality to gain those subs. You need something that is waaaay above average to catch people's eye and earn their diamond/sub. The people who have subs did this at some point and time; they've gathered a following. I think anyone that has a sub has earned it because they've faced the same challenges as the less known people, just at a different time.

I think so to,great content=more subs and vice versa, but on PMC it is not always like that, many people have a lot more subs than they deserved.

Subs can also be gained based on what you post on the forums. I know I've had a couple people subscribe to me solely based on what I post there. I still think that is a deserved subscriber as you've done something that in some way impacted them

yeah. Thoughtful or helpful comments can help you gain subs. You can also gain them just by being really active and meeting people. Their are way more ways to gain subs than people realize

All true. I ALWAYS diamond if I like a project, and I can't understand why no one click the diamond for others' hard work... Beats me!

Also, try putting a [space] after a [,] or [.]. It makes reading a lot less work. Diamond in any case
