My contest entry for the "'What makes me a Minecrafter contest."
"How the blocks chose me." A tale of destiny, foretold by a sheep.
I struggled aimlessly, breathing heavily. A drip of sweat rolled down my face as I concentrated greatly on what grasped my leg. My fingers clawed at the thing vigorously until I finally gave up, yanking it off my leg and hurling it across the room. Yep, the day came. The day my favorite pants finally couldn't fit. I sat there in complete bewilderment. 'Why did I have to grow so fast in such short notice?' I asked myself. It was two days before my birthday of the year 2013. I got up, threw on clothes that fit and glanced at the abandoned heap of what use to be my favorite pair of pants in the corner of the room. With a slight noise of disgust I walked to my desk and plopped myself into my desk chair, turning on my laptop.
I opened my search engine and looked through my browser history, slightly squinting as I scanned through the list. Seemingly satisfied, I found myself clicking on a Youtube link. A Minecraft video! I often watched Youtube videos about Minecraft ever since my friend at school urged me to play Minecraft with him. I never really gave it much thought until I searched for Minecraft videos and stumbled upon hundreds of videos recording people who played it.
I finally made my decision. I wanted Minecraft! When dinner time came, my dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday. He was interested to hear that I wanted a computer game and not some electronic as parents expect from most 16 year olds.
The next day my dad handed me a card labeled "Minecraft," and told me it was an early birthday present. I was so happy! I thanked him and hugged him, leaving to install Minecraft. I didn't know where to start, so I started in single player survival.
I spawned onto a beach near a forest. I first started to punch a tree, getting as much wood as I could. The sun slowly sank and I kept working. Suddenly, I was hit from behind! An arrow was launched into my spine. I hurriedly turned around and saw that I was surrounded by zombies and skeletons. I pushed through them and ran through the trees. Ran as hard as I could and before I knew it, I found myself in a hole in the ground. I didn't bother climbing up. Instead I quickly crafted the logs I had into planks and covered the ceiling, sitting in that hole all night until morning. I heard the wretched, growling sounds of zombies all night, standing above me.
When I found that morning came, I dug myself out of the hole, taking note of my surroundings. I was in a forest bathed in sunlight. I heard what sounded like footsteps and quickly turned around to find myself staring in the eyes of a sheep. The sheep simply looked at me before bending its head to eat the grass at his feet. I watched him for a minute before I remembered the Minecraft videos. I had to hurry. I quickly used my wood to build a small house. I crafted a wooden axe and hoe, building a small farm in a fenced area. While I was harvesting wheat I grew from seeds I found, I looked up to see the sheep staring at me through the fence. I led the sheep through my fence gate with wheat and fed it to him. He seemed very happy so I let him stay with me.
I was often in the mines, looking to gather coal, iron, gold, diamond and other ores. One night, when I returned from mining, I couldn't hear the happy sounds my sheep usually made in my return. I went outside and I couldn't find my sheep friend anywhere. Laying at the side of my house in the grass was a single block of wool and and not far from it, confined in my fence was a wild wolf.
I felt agony rush through me and I leaped at the wolf with my diamond sword, killing the beast in a few swift hits. I stood there until morning, watching the sky lighten, welcoming the rising sun. This was my destiny. My future. To be happy with what I have and to have it be taken from me. I knew not what lay ahead of me nor did I expect to keep what I had forever, but I knew one thing. I would be ready for what was thrown at me in this world, and I would fight.
The years dragged on and I found different servers. I built castles, mansions and statues of all kinds in creative and built small towns, huge houses and farms in survival. This is what I do. I build, fight and survive. I do not give up.
All thanks to, my friend.. the sheep.

Besides that one thing, it was very well written compared to other stories; not my taste, but I like the writing style. I saw this guy who had a bunch o subscribers that slapped together a few bad paragraphs and somehow got several diamonds for it. So nice job on that; and good luck!
Your welcome!
