Ever wanted to know how to animate Minecraft items? This tutorial will teach you how!
STEPS:
1. You'll need a picture editing program for this. I recommend using GIMP because it's easier. If you have one or the other installed, great! If you don't you want to download them here:
GIMP: [color=#34495e]https://www.gimp.org/downloads/[/color] (select your OS)
Paint.net: [color=#34495e]https://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html[/color]
You can also use PhotoShop if you'd like.
2. Choose an Item for animating. For this one, we will use the emerald. Press Ctrl + O to open (GIMP + Paint.Net)
3. Open the item/block your animating. Select a black colour in the colour wheel/squared on the left.
4. Make a black border AROUND the item. If your animating a block, please skip this step
5. Make a new page (Ctrl + N). You need to decide how many frames you want. For example, I want to add a glint to the emerald. The glint will have 12 frames + 2 extra. Once you've decided your frames, you want to multiply 16 by your #. Put the # you got in the "Height" section. Note: For this step you must use GIMP because you cant change the size of a page is Paint.Net.
6. Remove the background. You can find this in the layer section at the bottom right.
7. Go back to your item/block. Copy the layer & paste it in the strip. Keep copy and pasting for the whole page (see img for reference)
9. Start animating! For each edit, move to the next and the next.
9.5 MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE EACH OUTLINE BEFORE YOU EXPORT!!! Go to the eraser settings and enable "Hard Edge"
10. Once your done, Export it into your minecraft texture pack folder. Name it the item (for e.g emerald.png) *Ctrl + E to export!
11. Now, create a new text doc and name it your item+mcmeta (e.g emerald.png.mcmeta) it should turn into a .mcmeta file type!
2. Inside the doc, write this code:
12. Your done! Get into minecraft and see if your animation worked.
