Everyone who love to make skins sometimes get that feeling that u want to make a skin but never know what kind of skin to make. So do like this, make a skin that is only for you, no one else, it can be anything animal, what u look in real life or your favorite mob in minecraft, this skin is that you will always use and when u want to change skin, just cange the clother and puts some cool costumes on. You can also make famous actors, singers or your favorite movie or game character. When holidays come (like christmas, halloween etc.) you can make skins after them, they often get popular these days.

Mods:

Before making mods you can think like this: What does minecraft really need?, What can I do to make minecraft alot more easier/harder or what can I do to make minecraft get more challenges.

like making a mod that adds new biomes or mobs, maybe dimensions and new kind of items? There are few mods that adds cars, is there any mod that adds flying cars with a future feeling? If not, be the first to make it.Texture Packs:

If you are in trouble getting ideas for your texture pack? If you like the default texture pack but feel like something is not good enough, than change it. Make an improved default texturepack. You can also find someone who is creating an adventure map and make a texture pack for it. You can make all kinds of texture packs like realistic, simple, shaded or themed of a movie or a game.
