How To Get your Minecraft Server Popular!

Hello everyone of Planet Minecraft, today we will be going into the worldwide problem of what all of us have trouble with. It is Advertising. We all want to have the best minecraft server out there, but there is some steps you must do to get there!.
Step One - Make sure it is joinable
Make sure the server actually works! Have a friend try to join it, and if he can join it then your good to go!
Step Two - Quality is everything
While your trying to make your server popular, make sure it is a nice server. Look at these following tips to get more members.
- A nice spawn, a spawn that is different from others, make sure it has alot of detail and a nice setup!
- Have no flaws in your permissions! Make sure your members have access to the commands they need!
- A 24/7 dedicated server would attract more members then a hamachi / port-forwarded server.
- Having no lag on your server is key! People love to play with no interference with lag!
Step Three - Advertising
Now you have made it this far you must advertise your server! This is, of course, the key part to making your server popular. You need to go on multiple minecraft sites such as the Minecraft Forums, minestatus, but in my opinion the main place people go to find servers is PlanetMinecraft. Do not post and repost your server! It is a bad idea flat out! You have a possibility of your ip never being able to be posted on PMC again! If you are willing to pay money, you could buy an advertisement on the server advertising websites to show off your server.
Step Four - Keeping the Players online
You must satisfy your players to keep them online. This means to not abuse your powers! This will make people think your a server with staff who don't care about the community. Always be open to ideas, as a server owner you will encounter people suggesting server ideas such as new plugins, there is always room for improvement!
Extra - Setting up Votifier
If you want to make your server rise to the top on PMC, then set up votifier! If you want to know what votifier is, it is a plugin that allows players to vote for your server and receive a reward ingame! If you want to know more about Votifier, go here.

Hello, here you will follow some instructions on how to setup votifier!
1. Install Vault, and Votifier, insert these into your plugins file and restart/reload your server!
2. It will create a file called congig.yml in your Votifier Folder which is located under plugins. Go in there and you will see something similar to this
host:
port: 8192
debug: false
listener_folder: plugins/Votifier/listeners
Put the port as 8190, instead of 8192. And as for the host, put your ip there.
Example:
host: play.shockpvp.com
port: 8190
debug: false
listener_folder: plugins/Votifier/listeners
3. Save and reload the server. This should be put into effect.
4. Go to your PMC post and put in the information, for the hostname put in the server ip, for the port put in 8190, this is not your minecraft server port! Then go to your Votifier Folder and then to a folder called rsa, in there will be a file called public.key, go into there and copy and paste all the characters. After that, go back to your PMC post and paste it into the Votifier Public Key Box, then restart your server.
5. Enjoy Votifier! Congratulations, you have successfully set up votifier! Have a cookie! :D, if you want your members to earn In-Game-Rewards, add some listeners, go here for more information on how to get your players rewards automatically!
