Some datapacks may cause this screen to pop up. It looks different depending on the version you're installing it, but the messaging should be the same:

(Image source: Minecraft Wiki)This is caused by packs using certain features that the game considers to be unstable internally.
Some of these features can't be removed once installed, which'll permanently damage your worlds, hence why that warning exists!
As of 1.19.3, packs are required to be designed for the Minecraft Release you're playing on, so be sure the version numbers match before letting the creator know their creations doesn't work.
What are datapacks?
Datapacks are exclusive to Minecraft Java Edition (aka the original Minecraft) since release 1.13, that adds limited customizations to Minecraft's game mechanics without having to modify the game. How to install them:
- Find and download the datapacks you want to try out, either here on PMC, or Modrinth!
Be sure it supports the Minecraft Release you're playing on!
CurseForge gets a mention, but they treat modders terribly. I'd recommend not using them if there are any other alternatives. - Simply drag them into the datapacks folder of the world you wanted to have it on.
Packs may ask you to unzip them first, in which case it should be obvious from the filename. - Open the world, and have fun!
In Multiplayer/Realms:
- Install the datapack in Singleplayer first, then just upload the world.
- Restart the server for all the changes to take effect.
- In most cases the datapack will be applied instantly.
If this is not the case, it's mostly because the custom server JAR you're using requires extra steps, so check their guides or contact them for more support about it.
Locating the "datapacks" folder:
This is the easiest way to find the datapacks folder of the world you wanted to have it on:
- Select the world in Singleplayer.
- Hit "Edit" (bottom left corner of the screen)
- Select "Open World Folder".
- The datapacks folder can be found there!
Some notes before using datapacks:

Some of these features can't be removed once installed, which'll permanently damage your worlds, hence why that warning exists!
- As a rule of thumb, if you don't want to have a chance at losing your worlds forever, don't use packs that cause this screen to appear. Otherwise, you should be fine.
- Annoyingly, packs don't tend to tell you in advance if it is going to show you this screen.
The best way to figure this out is to install one pack at a time. - Some creators made sure that their published packs don't use any of said unstable features to ensure the safety of your worlds. You'll have to find them yourself - I don't have the resources to keep track of them currently.
As of 1.19.3, packs are required to be designed for the Minecraft Release you're playing on, so be sure the version numbers match before letting the creator know their creations doesn't work.
- Also, if you are reporting datapack problems to it's creator, please give them more information to work with. "It doesn't work" gives them basically nothing to work with.
- Some ideas for what to share: Modded/Vanilla? your Minecraft Release? the Datapack Version you're using? Some images would also be nice.
