Prerequisites

This method will work on all Linux distributions based on Debian. A few examples are Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, Kali Linux, MX Linux and many more.
In order to determine wether this method will work for you or not, run the command aptand see if you get any output. If it says something like “This apt has super-cow powers“ at the end of the output, you are good to go.

Installation

  1. Go to the official download website for Minecraft (Here)
  2. Click on the Debian download button
  3. Open your Terminal and use cdto navigate to your download path. If you haven’t changed this in your browser’s settings, this is likely to be ~/Downloads/. In this case, you can just use cd ~/Downloads/
  4. Install the downloaded package using the apt package manager by typing the command sudo apt-get install ./Minecraft.deb -y and enter your password if necessary.
