How to Install Optifine for Minecraft 1.8.

Step 1: Download the Optifine 1.8 Installer


Visit the link below and download the 1.8 version

OptiFine - Minecraft performance tuning and advanced graphics


Step 2: Activate the Installer


Click on the installer you just downloaded. This should automatically install the new Optifine for Minecraft 1.8. It will also create a profile in your Minecraft launcher called "Optifine".


Step 3: Start Minecraft and Select Optifine Profile


Open up your MC launcher and select the Optifine profile. Once selected your should see somethin like "Minecraft Optifine 1.8" in the bottom right hand corner.


Note


If you have trouble opening the downloaded file, open it with Java.

When I tried downloading Optifine I got a boatload of malware and content such as that on my device (it's all scanned and deleted now, THANKFULLY) and hopefully this WON'T cause anything.~

heres a tip when you install mods its that you will usually get ad.fly ads dont click on anything and wait for 5 secs usually click the mirror link

When I open optifine it opens in word pad

i installed version 1.8.9 HD U G7 and i crashed after about 5 minutes or so this is the report

For some reason, my Optifine wont open... I downloaded it, put it on my desktop, and tried to open it and nothing happens. Literally, I click on it and NOTHING happens and eveything goes back to how it was 5 seconds before it. Any help? I want to be able to participate in Reddit UHCs without lagging and dying everytime.

I'm having the same problem. I have downloaded it, tried putting it in folders, tried using forge, renaming all the files to optifine, everything. I cannot get it to open, install or work. I even did all this after completely re-downloading Minecraft.
