How to install OptiFine for Minecraft

Super quick no nonsense guide on how to install OptiFine on PC for Minecraft.

OptiFine is a Minecraft optimization mod which allows Minecraft to run faster and look better with full support for HD textures and many configuration options.

Optifine is fantastic and so simple to install – so this will be a short guide! I first found Optifine when looking for a plugin to convert all the individual glass blocks into one big window but there is also a whole host of other things that Optifine does to make the game look and run better.

Step 1

Download the newest release of Optifine for the version of Minecraft you’ll be playing. Many great mods still only run on 1.12.2 so if you’re playing on one of these servers then make sure to download Optifine for the correct version of Minecraft.

Note that when you click download it will most likely load up an advert page with a timer in the top right. Wait for the timer to end and click ‘skip’. Then just click download on the next page.









Step 2



Install Optifine. This is incredibly simple because you do not need to move anything around into the .minecraft folders. It installs itself into the correct place and replaces the version of Minecraft in your launcher.







Step 3



Launch the correct version of Minecraft from your launcher and enjoy the benefits of Optifine!
