part 1: what is an "average" server?
an average server is a server for your friends and about 20-30 other people to play on. You should have all the essential plugins and some fun extra ones too. A good example is play.mcshadowblade.com
part 2: get the server
for an average server i recomend getting a host. A good one is hosthorde, go here
the unlimited plan is cheap and it can get you your good 100 player slots and quite a few plugins, but if you want to stay small get the basic plan.
