Did you ever want to see what it was like before beta? with the new launcher you can!
This requires launcher version 1.2.3
If you do not know what that is, get minecraft version 1.6.2

1. Go to profile editor tab
2. create a new profile or double click a desired one
3. Make sure the box is checked that is saying "allow use of old alpha versions (2010)" or whatever the thing says
4. Go to the place where you select your version
5. Scroll down until you see some thing like "old-alpha a1.2.6" or lower
6. Launch your minecraft in the selected profile
7. Enjoy your stay at memory lane!

Notes:
-It will take a while for it to load.
-If it is full of lag either turn you reder distance down (using the "f" key or any key you selected in options), or put you window in small screen mode
