Step by step on how to survive your first night...

Step 1: Create a new world, make sure its on survival or hardcore(I have a special section for hardcore) and not superflat world gen(I also will have a section for surviving superflat as well)

Step 2: Notice the sun you have 10 minutes until the sun falls and it becomes night time. Thats when all of the creepers, spiders, zombies, enderman, etc. monsters come out, and they would like nothing more than to rip your face off, tear out your brain, and eat off your limbs, or lets just say turn you in to a late night dinner.

Step 3: So the first thing you want to do is find a tree and punch at the tree trunk until it breaks and then you have wood. You want to take those wood and turn them into wooden planks. So how you do that is you press 'e' or whatever key you have inventory key set as and put them in the crafting section wich looks like 4 squares and just put the wood in one of those squares, and that gives you wooden planks. you will need at least 14 or more planks.

Step 4: Now what you want to do is travel around and try to find a mountain and find some coal ore wich looks like this:


Step 5: Once you've found some coal you want to take your wooden planks and put them into your crafting again and make a crafting table wich is crafted like this:

After you make that you want to take your crafting table and place it on the ground and right click it and then you get an even bigger crafting area. What you want to do with that is make a wooden pick. How you do that is well... you are going to need some sticks first so how you do that is you take your wooden planks and you do this:
Once you have your sticks you can now make your wooden pick wich is done like this:


Step 6: Now you can mine that coal that you see. Using that pickaxe just like punching at the tree, hit it with your pickaxe.

Step 7: Now what you can do with that coal is you can take it and make some torches because most likely by now the sun is probably falling so you now have that hole from that coal, and if it wasnt that big of a hole, you can mine a small room, so now craft some torches to light up the night. Torches are made like this:

Step 8: So with those torches you need to place them around your room enough to light it up most likely just one and place about 2 outside your hole.

Step 9: When its night in your hole your gonna wanna make sure no monsters can get in. So make sure there are no holes at the top and make sure you have one little hole outside the entrance(make sure you also covered your entrance so no monsters can get in there) so you can see when the sun rises.

Step 10: You have survived your first night
