Hiya PMC, Servo270 here, with a new tutorial of mine.
Recently I've been playing around with everyone's favorite out-of-game map editor, and discovered a ridiculously easy way to terraform.

What you need:
Minecraft (duh)
MCedit 1.6
MCedit filters (Topsoil and smooth)
How to do it:

Step one: Setup.
If you already have MCedit installed, continue to step two, if not, go to http://www.mcedit.net and download it for your operating system. If you don't have Minecraft, you are in the wrong spot.

Step two: Layout.
Decide what type of hill/mountain you want to build. I will make a smaller mountain, for time purposes, but the scale is effectively limitless. Get the brush tool, and set it to 10*10 stone (square, fill) and make a rough outline of the hill/mountain you wish to build. It should look something like this:

Step three:
shape it.
Continue the shape filling it in, and shaping it roughly, changing the brush size as necessary, until you have the shape you like.

Step four: Smooth.
Select the entire hill/mountain using the select feature. Go into filters, and choose Smooth. Set the repeat count to between 30 and 50, depending on your computer and the quality of the shape you want. When this is done, it should look like this:

Step five: Soil.
If you want your mountain to look like any other mountain in the game, you're going to want to put dirt on it. Go back to filters and select the Topsoil filter. Set it to dirt 2 blocks deep, run the filter, then set it to grass one block deep, giving a nice covering.

Step six: Details.
If you want the mountian to have trees, you can run the forester filter. If you want it to have a little snow on top (like me) you can select the top part of the mountain and change grass to snow and dirt to stone using the fill and replace function. The possibilities are endless, go out there and have fun terraforming!

Thanks, really helped me out, I'm trying to make an adventure map but I wanted a superflat world so I didn't have to level 5000 forests.
