Hello world! In this post I’m going to explain some tips that may help you to make your maps more known. I made my first map and I see how difficult is to have some downloads. So I made a guide with some points that should help you:

1) Do a good job: First of all, you must do something at least decent. You'll never get known if your creations are horrible!


2) Good description: you need a good description. If your work deserves to be downloaded, you'll have to demonstrate it. The title is the beginning. Don't say something like “my first map” or “the most awesome map EVER”. I know from experience that the maps with these kinds of titles are the worst, and nobody will download them anyway. The title must describe the map and be something attractive. I should also express the kind of map that you made. Then you must add a good description, no too short and better if divided in little sections. Describe the plot, the kind of map, how to play it and maybe add some information that may help the player in particular situations. Than you need of course some screens and a trailer. The screens are needed (nobody will download a map without screens) and the trailer helps a lot.

3) Youtube: first of all, a good trailer increases radically the downloads. Then it can be the most important account for your map-maker activity. This is because it's the most popular site where you can do Minecraft-related things, so here a lot of people can follow your creations and say that they like your work.

4) Use more than one site: post your work in more than one site, so a lot of people can see it. You can also redirect everybody to only one site.

5) Forum signature: you are in a forum, you should use the link to your map as a forum signature. An enormous red link with the name of your map can be very attractive.


6) Be active on the site/s: being active on the site can make you more known, especially if there is the link to your map in the signature.

7) Do other stuff: don't do only maps, but also other things, for example blog posts. It will help you to get more people to try your map. And yes, this blog post is one of them :D!

8) Be nice: it is very important to be nice with the people who comment on your map. Don't be rude, but remember to defend your rights.

9)Gameplays: the gameplays are the best for advertising your maps, but remember: everyone must write in the description the link to the original post where you can download the map.

10)Do not spam: don't spam! If you made the best map in the world, never spam! It will make you lose a lot of points and a lot of people won't try your map because you spammed.

11) Other languages: if you aren't mother tongue, translating your map won't be the most easy and relaxing work you ever did. But you have to, and having a map in two or more languages could help you. You could also publish the map on a site in your language, something that I don't do, but it's a long story.

12) External tools: programs or mod like mc edit or world painter can help you, but don't abuse them! They help a lot, but if you don't know how to use them you could make a horrible map!

13) Bump/update logs: don't use to much things like update logs or don't "bump" your forum topic too frequently! It will make you bad publicity. Update your map only when something changed!
