I have realized the ultimate hue shifting technique use the RGB sliders. For example if you have this as the base color :
then you chose one of the sliders to go off of,
(and choosing the general tone and color pallet.)
For this example I am using the red slider, you can move it up and down so you can have darker and lighter tones/shades.
Like this

Lighter,
and

Darker
you can exaggerate the difference as much as you want,
(sometimes it can be a little bit hard to see)
but here are these 5 colors put together to shade some hair.
