Prologue lol:
Zzzpt! The lights flickered out, right as he was going to collect the virtual prize. He sighed and leaned back from the desk, glancing outside. The lack of lights in his hometown was unsettling and calming at the same time, but he didn’t focus on that. He focused on the stars. They were brighter than he had ever seen them before. It was a very beautiful sight, dear reader. the way they glittered the sky seemed extra special, and not just because the city’s/ lights were dark. As he stared at the stars, he began to hear it. It was faint, colorful and direct. It felt as though only he could hear it. He quickly searched around his room for the source, but it only grew louder as he reached up to open his window. It felt like a rythom, a heartbeat, a melody. As it continued to call to him, he closed the window and less than a minute later the front door released him. He scanned his front yard to no avail, but he appreciated the beautiful way the grass’s dew shimmered under the green moonlight. Wait, green moonlight? He glanced at his hand, not believing what he was seeing, but it too seemed to have a green tint. He looked skyward and saw it. It was small and bright, high in the sky. It grew in size as its strong aura. It’s light aqua color was both blue like the deep ocean and green like the springtime. His eyes grew wide as he suddenly realized that the thing (whatever it was) was in fact not growing in size, but getting closer. He tore off running away from the light, realizing that this was crazy, and he should have been asleep by now. The the light hit grew brighter and stronger along with the music. It surrounded him, blasting his ears with music indescribable. (Believe me, I’m trying) Both sound and color, freind and foe, it shouted and blasted and screamed to be known. Then when it couldn’t get any worse, it stopped. The blinding light faded, and all seemed as it should have been. But the boy was still outside, and there was a faint light sitting on the ground. As the boy calmed down, he started crawling carefully to the humming source. There it was, a small gem, glowing from deep inside. The crystal seemed to be carved carefully, and it’s intercity was immaculate. It didn’t seem damaged at all, nor the grass that held it. It seemed to flicker along its melody, and the boy’s jaw fell at its beauty. That’s when it happened. An event so life changing, it would never leave the boy. This little boy did the unthinkable.
He slowly reached out his hand…
And touched it.
