The Ancients, as I have mentioned, were the first race to spawn in the Overworld upon its birth from the void. They developed Magyk using the powers of Diamonds and Obsidian. The Players have harnessed this power to a lesser level with their Enchanting Tables. With Magyk, the ancients forged cattle and other creatures to aid their survival. Of course to get the Diamonds they needed Iron; and to get the Iron they needed Stone; and to get the Stone they needed to mine. And mine they did. They built sprawling Mineshafts with the aid of their Pickaxes. The miners soon ran into Ravines, and to reach the high-up Ores they bred the fast, small and agile Cave Spiders. The Ancients basked in glorious wealth. One day though, a reckless miner knocked a piece of Flint off of a Chest. It landed on an Iron Ingot that happened to be laying in a strange shape of Obsidian. As the Players have since discovered, that is the way to create a Nether Portal. The Ancients were bewildered. They had never seen any indication of other Dimensions, never mind a portal right into the heart of one. Nevertheless through the portal they went, and what they found was astounding - a world filled with infinite wealth, unending fire to keep them warm, lava lakes to run their great Smelteries, and Pigmen who loved to trade "useless" Diamonds for Sticks. But all good things must come to an end...
