In-Game Biome Creation
(Sequax's Contest Entry)

So, to start this off, I'd like to elaborate on my idea a little bit more. What I mean by "In-Game Biome Creation" is that the player, by placing enough trees/shrubbery in a certain area could slowly change a biome into another.

Features:
- In-game biome changing/creating by using trees or shrubbery and planting them in a certain area (Keep in mind that you would be able to create any of the biomes, except the mountain/hill biomes)
- This would be a toggle-able feature, since players may not want certain biomes switching when they plant trees in it
- Controllable mob spawning (mooshrooms in mushroom biomes, etc.)

Here Are Some Examples

Desert Biome + Oak Trees (Maybe over 50) = Forest Biome

Forest Biome + Giant Mushrooms (Maybe over 20) = Mushroom Biome

Snow Biome + Grass (Over 100) = Plains Biome

(The possibilities are quite large)

How It Would Work:
(These pictures only represent what it could look like)

Why I Think This Is a Good Idea:

This could offer some useful features to Minecraft. Obviously creating your own biome is beneficial, especially creating biomes like Mushroom Biomes, etc. Also, players would be able to clear out Snow Biomes and replace them with Plains Biomes that are more optimal for building.

Guys, please remember to diamond this if you like it!

What about an extension to this where you can (perhaps on a flat "editor" world) create your own biome and save it. this would be difficult to add into the spawning but could allow for a more customized experience where biomes match personal desires.

This is an interesting idea, but sadly I can't edit the post until after the contest is over.

true i just thought of how it would be easily implemented and it might also be bukkit compatible since its just adding things to the spawning sequences persay. You would use mostly commands for things like terrain height, foliage density, and ore rarity. It could then toggle the edit mode "area" (or however you handle it) accordingly and you could change the surface materials and create/save small, medium, and large trees if applicable. anything else like biome rarity, or anything that isnt building related could be command based.

That is a very cool idea. For sure, you should make a blog or forum post about it!
