This is a step guide on how to install mods for people who don't know how.
So here:
Step 1: Install WinRAR or 7ZIP.
Step 2: Install the mods you want including modloader and audiomod.
Step 3: Goto start and type %appdata% in search,click run, and open your .minecraft folder then the bin folder.Then use winRAR to open your minecraft.jar.
Step 4: Drag all the contents from modloader,audiomod,and the mods you want into the minecraft.jar.
Do NOT drag the whole zip into the jar.
Step 5:Delete the META-INF folder in the .jar.
Step 6: Run and play the minecraft.exe.*Do not play browser at minecraft.net.It won't work.*
Step 7: Enjoy the mods you installed.
If you get a black screen that means you installed them incorrectly or a mod is incompatible with another mod.
Remember they will never be incompatible with modloader or audiomod.
You only need modloader, but audiomod is needed for mods that add new sounds.If they come with instructions read those.
If you need mcpatcher for a texturepack patch your .jar with that before installing any mods.
And that is how you install mods for Minecraft.

Are you using winRAR or 7ZIP?
If its winRAR try re-doing it by closing it then re-opening.
If it doesn't work try deleting the bin folder,running the game,then going back to try again.
If its 7ZIP I don't really know because I use winRAR...but I know 7ZIP can be used to....but probably same thing to do if you had winRAR.
This is a windows tutorial so if you're on a MAC you'll have to google or go on youtube...*I've never used a MAC or if I have I don't remember.*
Try to do it with 7ZIP if you did it with winRAR.*If 7ZIP try with winRAR.*
