Do you remember the first time you wielded your wooden pickaxe?
Do you remember the first night you spent in your dirt house?
Do you remember the initial excitement when you found your first diamond?

I do, but I never quite get that feeling any more. It only just occurred to me today, i've been Admin on a server for quite some time. I actually got tired of it, the constant player spamming, the griefing and the nagging upon nagging. Regardless, I recently moved to a survival server with a few of my friends (HA! Friends....) for the first time in a while I was playing legitimately, simple basic SMP survival. Do you know what I found?

Minecraft just didn't have that initial kick that it used to. I know this might be because of the adaptation to using creative mode, world-edit and other plugins. Even still, I just didn't enjoy it as much as before. It's quite a dull feeling really, more and more of my friends are discovering Minecraft and i'm starting to lack the will to play more than 2 minutes of it.

I don't mind making buildings for projects. It's fun, it's something new, but I always liked the idea of SMP however it's only fun for 10 minutes until you have made a stable shelter and a source of food. After that I stagger to find interest. R.I.P Minecraft SSP/SMP enjoyment.

I suggest everyone turn off your mods. Go into ssp or a good, small-community smp server.
Now, punch some trees, build a shelter, travel across Minecraftia. Try and find some diamond, although it is so elusive. And rule #1 is NO MODS. Forget the end, that's how to feel good about minecraft again.

I also think Notch killed minecraft at 1.8.

Agreed. I remember when it was just you, your pickaxe, and your farm animals.

If you hate The End, potions, enchantment, then just don't go/use it. Don't go complaining about how new stuff has been added to the game that you 'don't like'...

I didn't say i hated it and i didn't complain. I simply stated (as i have played the game for a long time now) that at 1.8 minecraft became a completely different game.

Yes I agree, and I was using 'you' as a plural for the people that do hate the game now. Sorry if I confused and/or offended you.
