introduction

klepto... this mod post is late again. yes, i know but also i'm changing the post time to be a bit later so i can just write it at a normal time instead of at midnight. i apologize if any of you were sitting at the edge of your seats waiting for this to post. someday i'll actually write these posts in advance. nonetheless another halloween mod post, even though you could probably claim that it's a stretch to call this a halloween mod.

what is twilight forest?

this is actually a mod that i can assume many of you already know, since it's pretty iconic. the portal made with water in a 2x2 surrounded by flowers and throwing in a diamond, is almost as iconic as the aether portal. the forest full of animals and lit up by fireflies is beautiful and the bosses makes it useful too.

the aesthetics

the aesthetics for twilight forest are impeccable. the forest is a wonder to walk through but still has this atmosphere are something being off, which makes it perfect for halloween. there was plenty of times when even though i didn't actually explore the twilight forest bosses i still made a portal so i could steal some of the mobs and items for my own house since they are all modeled perfectly.

the creativity of the bosses

i've played a lot of mods where the bosses is just a dragon or some big guy but twilight forest has a more diverse set of bosses inspired by mythology that adds to the atmosphere of the mods perfectly. you'll find a lot of the bosses naturally which makes the mod feel a lot more natural, encountering the naga for the first time is magical.

dislikes

finding later bosses

you know how two seconds ago i said finding the first boss is magical, well trying to find the later ones is a pain in the ass. there are methods in game to help you but they can be confusing and online resources are often old or outdated. although most people are going to go into the game with prior knowledge since it was a pretty huge mod back in the day, i imagine it'd be hell to figure out if you're a new player. this is unfortunately a common flaw with older mods.

final thoughts

twilight forest is a fantastic mod, it's looks beautiful and manages to have good bosses at the same time. it is a great mod for halloween and it will pair perfectly with more mystical mods, especially the one we're talking about next week! i encourage everyone to check it out, even more so to anyone who isn't familiar with this nostalgic mod.
