Lag tip tutorial by roncrafts :

Causes of lag:
tip :*there is no lag in minecraft is there is no mods(vanilla) and in low graphics and no texture packs
*Non updated java
*too many mods
*weak video cards and processor
*using a video card control center (using of those application peformance options)
*old map
*and using many applications using java
tip :*lagness of minecraft is affected by mods not all mods example items mod, lagging is cause by mods that loads chunks and spawning entities

Decreasing of lag :
*opposite of all causes of lag (common sense)
*update always java
*update video cards and processor if necessary
*go to task manager and make minecraft priority(javaw.exe) to high
*(optional) use optifine for fps boost
*use game booster and always check for defragments of minecraft

You might also want to add "restart the computer" to that list. I often have to do it. I think it's cause too much RAM usage.

restart only if you use computer for much too long but its not reducing lagness,if too much long if you open minecraft it loads too long and become not responding
