If you've just made a server, and your looking for members, how do you do it? It's tough, from experience. But you have to do it somehow, and these tips should hopefully give you a little bit of a jumpstart on your server.

Step 1-2: Attracting Players

1: Give your server a creative name.

DO NOT: [Random Thing Here]Craft

Do: Clans of Corruption

The first one has been used about 100 times. Try to avoid it.

The second one, though, is creative. I doubt it has been used before, but it's possible because I just came up with it from the top of my head.

2: Make a banner for your server. Without a banner, your server looks pretty crappy, especially on PMC. If you make an animated, awesome banner, your server'll look a lot more attractive.

Step 3-4: Getting Players

3: Have a great spawn. I remember going on a server once, seeing a crappy spawn, and then leaving. It sucks for the owner. You need to think about how your server is presented.

Do: Make a very elegant spawn that is built with time a greatness.

Do not: Build anything out of dirt or just one block.

4: Have good plugins for the age group you are attracting.

For 8-12

Do: Have a herobrine based plugin. (It works. I've had experience.)

Do not: Have complicated plugins. They will fail to use them.

For 13-15

Do: Have a plugin like factions or towny.

Do not: Have anything to do with herobrine what-so-ever, it will not attract them.

For 16+

Do: Get almost every plugin you want. They'll understand how to use them.

Do not: Get anything to below their level that it won't attract them. (HEROBRINE ONLY ATTRACTS YOUNG PLAYERS.)

Those will usually work for those separate age groups. As I said up there, Herobrine only attracts young players. He does, though, attract a lot of them, so if you can deal with 9 year olds asking you where Herobrine is, go for it.

5: Make your advertising page look good. A little bit like making a spawn look good, this helps you become a good server through first impressions. They are always good.

Step 5-6: Keeping Players

5: Have good staff. Trust me, good staff is the base of keeping players. If the staff abuse in any way, the players will quit. And yes, I do have lots of experience with it. It happens a lot. You should get staff that:

1: Are mature.

2: Have experience.

3: You trust.

If you use those big three, choosing staff should be pretty easy.

6: Have someone who can keep plugins successful. Once you've mastered the good plugins, you need to keep themconsistent. If you have to reset the map, shut down the server, ect, ect, some players may leave, especially if you have a younger player base. Get someone to do the plugins that actually knows how to do them and can commit time to doing them.

Well, that about wraps up my blog. I hope this helps you get more players!
